Two other vocalists that should have been mentioned here:

Kirsty Thirsk (the girl that sing's in Darey's Remix of Delerium -"Heaven's Earth" )

Moya Brennan (Chicane's - "Saltwater")

Both of those vocalists just smear Sarah McLachlan's "Silence" performance.

Kirsty Hawkshaw gets my vote, just like her voice most of them all.

Moya/Maire Brennan (Máire Ní Bhraonáin) isn't really a trance vocalist but a lead singer of an Irish traditional/new age/contemporary band called Clannad and is also known as a sister of Enya (Eithne Ní Bhraonáin). Enya was also a member of this band in the early days.

Moya's voice has been used and sampled only on 3 trance tracks as far as i know, 'Chicane - Saltwater', 'Pulp Victim - The World' and 'Antillas - I Will Find You'. All have more or less just used and sampled old Clannad tracks, not actually having any real new vocal performances from Moya. Vocal parts for 'Saltwater' were reworked by Moya especially for the track tho but it still basicly was a remake of 'Clannad - Theme from Harry’s Game'. Pulp Victim (aka Ferry Corsten) used samples of 'Clannad - Oro' in 'The World' and Antillas remade 'Clannad - I Will Find You'. So IMO Moya Brennan isn't really a trance vocalist at the same level of the others in this thread even if she does have a good voice.

We agree! She rules!

It's interesting you should bring this up, because I'm quite familiar with Moya (Maire) Brennan's music and all the information you volunteered to disclose, and I also realize she isn't a trance vocalist. However, the reason why I included her is because obviously the starter of this thread wasn't following the standards that you're promoting because Sarah McLachlan is not a trance vocalist either and yet she was included, so if Sarah is included I see no reason why Moya can be on the list.

Heh, i always seem to get bit overexcited when i start explaining things.. Yes, i agree, Moya should have been there if downtempo/ambient/new age/whatever vocalists like Sarah and Rani are included.. i think only Justine Suissa, Marcella Woods, Elles de Graaf, Daisy Dee, Rozalla (meeh, featured on the crappy vocal version of Live Another Life), Jan Johnston, Cathy Pearce (of Tenth Planet), Caroline Lavelle, Kirsty Hawkshaw and some others who i can't remember now could be called as real trance vocalists because they and their voices feature on ORIGINAL trance productions, not just in originally downtempo styled tunes with trance remixes or remakes, like Silence, Underwater, World On Fire,...
Hydarnes
Well, what can I say, we agree :D. Your information was nice though for those less acquainted with the situation, so your effort wasn't in vain! ;)

So I take it you like Enya as well ;)? I have every song she's ever made. She's my fav non-trance artist. She's just downright talented, her voice bautiful and some of her music is actually trance-inducing, but without the dance percussion. I discovered Moya (Maire) recently and I'm trying to collect all of her music as well.
GrimReaper
Yes i do enjoy Enya too, don't have all of her works but just the Only Time 4xCD box with all the best Enya tracks. And of Clannad i have also some sort of 'best of' album which has their somewhat biggest hits.
XYSHOOR
Strange question, but does DJ Tatana use her voice e.g. in Elements Of Culture? BTW, I'm suprised how long this poll is continued.
