I have a sketch of what I want to build. But it isnt exactly something you can go to the store and just buy and build. There are intricacies involved.
Its not a small table. :)
Oh and another major factor... this table will be in the place where my bed is located right now. On the other wall I have a massive wall unit. And until I have a replacement wall unit that has a location for my bed, I cant build the table anyway. |

Unless there is more that you have in mind that isn't on the sketch, doesn't look like it would be too hard to build? I'm assuming you want it done out of plywood or something? I made mine out of birch plywood... $40 a sheet at home depot, and $40 for a hand held power saw to cut it up! I forget exactly, but I think its 88" x 25"
I was thinking about buying one from www.dualsf.com, but I wanted it big enough to hold my laptop aswell as the decks. When I asked them, they said it would be a custom build, and I think they quoted almost $2000 with packing and shipping. I just couldnt spend that much when I was pretty sure I could make something almost as good myself! |

Actually, not plywood, my dad and I agreed on maple and staining it with a cherry finish.
The hardest part of that table is the top, it has to be 1 solid piece.
Either way, I dont have the space to build it nor a place to put it once its built - not yet atleast. |

Why does that top have to be one piece? Seems like there would be problems with it being leveled and aligned properly like that.
I had a similar table like that before and it was cut on the corners at 45 degrees, being 3 pieces on the top, |

I am, Ill have the money in 2 weeks to get it. I might not get that case since it wont fit on the wall that Im planning to put it on, so I might go looking for a regular table. Something that looks like:

whats the big deal with having an amazing table anyway. go buy one at walmart for like $50. wait til you're good enough that you are having people over all the time to watch you spin. then get a good one.

| Actually, that was the point I was making - that although that table is perfect, I wasnt gonna pay $300 for it, I wouldnt pay $150 for it. I checked Target and Walmart, and Im gonna go across the street and check out Staples later. |
