Yeah I know exactly what you mean. I've only really had one brush with death, and that was when I was about 7 years old. I was eating a packet of those sweets called Starburst (or Opal Fruits as they were known back then) in my lounge with my family.
For some stupid reason, I was unwrapping the sweets and then sucking them off of the wrapper into my mouth. Well as you can imagine, I sucked in a little bit too hard with one of them, and it went straight down my throat.
So I had this whole sweet lodged in my windpipe. I pannicked like a little kid would I guess, and I jumped out of my seat and managed to say that I had one stuck in my throat. I think my mum thought I was playing around for a second, until she saw that look in my eyes that said I was totally serious. My mum grabbed me and ran to the bathroom (what for, I'll never know) and started smacking me on the back.
I could feel it scratching my throat, and after a few seconds my throat sort of swelled up a little bit, completely blocking off my air supply. My dad was there too, although there was nothing that he could do at that point. I remember thinking to myself that I could die, and I had these visions of ambulances and hospitals flashing through my mind. All I could think about was how my family would feel if I died. I remember reaching out to my dad once I couldn't breathe anymore, as if to say goodbye for the last time. I wasn't scared by that point, but my mum was getting really upset. :(
Just then, once I'd given up, the sweet came flying out of my mouth. I dont think i've ever been so relieved lol. It was so scary, I hope it never happens to anyone else.

no, if you remember a while back, i posted a story about her and this jerk ex friend of my boyfriend's...she threw a drink in his face and he called her every name in the book in a bar, and we all got kicked out. she's a drama whore. i tried to hook her up w/ my boyfriend's friend cuz i thought maybe they'd hit if off...what does she do? goes home w/ him the first night. i had to hear her mouth for a month after about how he treats her bad, bla bla bla.
and streakfury, i had the same experience with a chocolate kiss. i thought i was going to die. my friend was there with me sleeping over but my parents were out to dinner. i think i was like 10...i started panicking big time and tried to drink water to get it out of my throat. the worst part is it was chocolate, so it was smudged into my throat and wouldn't go down. finally it did and i cried for like 10 minutes. very scary thing...choking or not being able to breathe. |

OMG! This is absolutely bizarre because Clovis and I were talking about this not too long ago. I said that if I were to die, Jason would probably notice me not being online, try and call me, and then get the message that I was dead. Then he would most likely relay the message back to all of you guys. Creepy.
I wrote in a journal entry of mine that if I were to die, I would want the people on TA to know. So if I die, and people go through my journals, they will know to do this.
Well, if you get any weird threads about how "This is Theresa's friend, and she wanted someone to tell you that she has passed away", don't be too weirded out. LOL!
Will you miss me? ;)

Happened to me once with a lollipop. I was six years old sucking on a lollipop, and somehow it came right off the stick, and straight down my throat. I started choking, and ran to my mom. She took one look at me and freaked out; "what's wrong, why are you turning blue?!?!?!?!"
Once she figured out that I was choking to death, she started feeding me bread and water like crazy. The combo made the bread weigh the lollipop down after a couple minutes. I was horrified because I could not breathe for several minutes.
Wow, I was freaked out after that. If I remember correctly, I went and took a nap.
Theresa's near death experience tuckered her out. :) |
