What do you all consider the best magazines for DJs?
MixMag? Remix? BPM? |

I like iDJ (International DJ Magazine).

It's a bit pricey here in the States since it's an imported magazine. Then again, magazines in general are just way too expensive. Period! :whip: |

Since I can't afford much, I like Remix magazine for EDM stuff (they do a bit of hiphop too).
Also Scratch magazine is good, but it's mainly geared towards hiphop. |

I rarely buy any 'cos you can get all the info on the web anyways, but from my experience, compared to the others, IDJ looked quite good :) |

I think it all depends what you want to read in a magazine. Here's the most popular mags in the UK (not sure how widely they're exported):
* Mixmag is excellent for club listings, celebrity DJ gossip and articles about drugs. They're the only dance music magazine to give mix CD's away regularly though.
* IDJ is probably the best magazine if you want articles on DJ technique, equipment and other aspects of the technical side of the industry.
* DJ magazine has the advantage of being fortnightly so it's more up-to-date with the latest tunes and trends. A good balance of gear reviews and DJ profiles although not much on the technique side of things.
* M8 is a Scottish magazine who, IMHO, do the best tune reviews in the business. Bit of a Scottish bias and they're probably closer to a 'lifestyle' magazine than the others I've listed.
There's other magazines for more specialist music scenes as well (drum & bass, hip-hop, soul etc) but these four are the main ones who cover trance in some capacity. I tend to buy all four when I can although I rarely buy DJ magazine every fortnight.
Hope this helps! :D |

They're all crap - save your money, and buy tunes instead. |
