problem with baseball, and being a houstonian (astros), I really picked this up over the past month....(keep in mind im not a baseball fan)
is that, there are just SO many bandwagon fans for baseball........I dont see baseball fans, I see people looking for an excuse to celebrate about something..... every bar/club I was at, every fan looked like they couldnt distinguish the pitcher from the shortstop, yet somehow went nuts everytime there was a hit. It just didnt feel authentic. Women especially. Too many wives trying to make their husband happy by acting like they care. I saw more female fans than male fans, thats something you'll never see in the regular season. You can tell half the people never ever watched the regular season.
sure you got fans like that for every sport, especially when a team makes it far....but the number of em I saw in baseball stands out. Since it is one of the easiest and simplest sports to spectate, I guess it naturally will attract the masses.
but riots over baseball? thats like riots over golf, it doesnt fit, seems a bit too extreme for such a non-aggressive sport. |
