I am designing a hardware controller for use with pc/mac dj programs.I am looking for input from anyone who uses these type of progs ( level of experience/musical style not an issue) I just want thoughts and comments on the types of features that your ideal controller/plug in deck would have. Anyone who is up for it can either post here or (preferably) email me at [email protected]. Lets have your suggestions !!!

Peace

What kind of controller would this be? Something like a USB MIDI mixer? A deck of some kind?
Pretty hard to give you tips without knowing :)

The idea is for a USB Midi controlled deck that could incorporate pitch control, jog wheel etc. Things that have been identified by others include eq and filter controls, touch pads for nudging beats in etc. I don't really want to drive peoples thinking too much, so I get some original input. A popular idea at the moment is for a single deck like controller that could be used as a stand alone product, or incorporated into a vinyl setup with an existing mixer etc. Generally all in one units are o.k, but then there is no flexibilty if you have some of your own gear already...or simply want to control a trcak of your p.c through your vinyl turntables and mixer.

mostly possible already thanks to FinalScratch, via Timecode (don't know which type tho)
Inertia
- digital pitch control in increments of +/-0.02% at least.
- digital pitch display (i love it for making minor corrections)
- jogwheel with pitch bend and scratch functionality
- cue/play buttons
- live loop (manual loop control) buttons
- auto loop on beat buttons
- saving of cue points to PC's hard drive
- working master tempo
- integrated sampler

basically, for me it'd end up being a CDJ-1000Mk2 + finalscratch, only no extra unit, it'd be controlling the PC right off the bat...
