i'm kinda new to trance music..generally just listen to whatever i have (mainly oakenfold, van dyk, digweed, sasha), but i've decided i want to get to know it better. i've read the forums here some, and always read about different kinds of trance...goa, psy, hard, etc... i was hoping someone could kinda clear up some of the differences for me, maybe give some examples of some of the stars of each (and maybe somewhere i could download samples or something), that'd be awsome. thanks. also, maybe tell me where i could order cd's moderately priced...likve in a pretty small town and have pretty much anything there is to sell here at local stores. thanks for the time

One of the best places to start is in the amateur Djs forum. Where people label their work as such, ie. New Prog Mix for October, Classic Trance Mix, Techno Mix, etc... you can learn a lot here.

There is some great quality from the amateur's (if I can safely call them that) on this website, it will sometimes live you wondering why the big names are so popular.

As to the actual styles, listen to the suggested tracks on ishkur's guide listed above. When you know your style then it may be easier for people to point you in a more suitable direction to the brand of music that you like.

Another place I have always found useful to listen to various genre's is di.fm (click me). They have a number of channels they play music in a certain genre 24/7, and much of it is quality stuff.
