Yeah, im looking into getting some dj gear from the states, but i dont know if its worth it after import fees, or levies, or duty fees. If anyone knows what those fees are approxamatly (what fees apply, and what the rates are) that would be great...
Im in BC if that matters... |

| Do you know if its just a general fee? or does it go by weight, and size? |

It seemed to be mostly by weight for me. |

depends on what is sent and the value
cuz you know customs won't tax anything like 20 bucks but 200...they licking their chops. |

there is actual duties on that. At best buy, my now former employer :D, we got canadians all the time. If you buy something here and try to take it over the border they tax you.
So its a product thing.
i mean, , i tried bringing 60 dollars worth of wine over the border and they charged me 70 bucks for it. |

The exchange rate is very good right now at around .818 so that might offset any duties you pay.
Also, maybe if you get is shipped as a 'gift', you could get around paying at the border? |

| I think there is a dollar amount attached to what constitutes a 'gift'. I remember there being one, at least. |

The things you fear are Custom Fees, you get charged for their "services", weight and size of your package. I strongly suggest that you order your dj equipment to a neighboring (sp?) city in the US and then pick it up and bring it across the border.
Will save you lotsa $$$$$. |

You'll be looking at like $300 canadian minium in duties. If possible, have them send the package as a gift and indicate that they are only worth like $100 each max. |
