took my mixer into work today as the faders were starting to get a bit crackly, i was expecting an 'It's ed you need a new mixer' from our sound engineer, but he said to spray some contact cleaner/lubricator in the groove of the faders, and hey presto, they work fine now.
He said its only temporary, but it's worth a try if you cant/dont want to fork out for a new mixer.

Ohhhh I am going to have to try that. Also, do you know an easy fix to the left side of the audio not working on a specific channel. I took it apart and didn't really notice anything out of place. |

They way he says it for a specific channel makes me think the cart works fine when played through other channels, in which case it is indeed a mixer problem. |

it could possibly be a dry solder joint on the back of the board, you'll be able to see it if you look carefully. It will just need reflowing:)
Not actually sure if this would cause the problem that you have, just something that i thought of. |

I appreciate the infor, but yea, everyone is right. This is a Concorde cart, hence, no wiring, and the problem remains. Even when switched out. It is a mixer problem, just wish I knew the exact answer. Thanks for the tips guys |

| Does it fix leakage as well or only crackling... right now I have to unplug my left output wire if I want to attempt any fader scratching on my crappy Numark DM-1002. :( I want to get a new mixer anyways though, I just need to save up for a little. :D Luckily I mix most of the time so it doesn't become a problem. |

before i sold my old gemini ps626i i noticed the x-fader was getting really crackly and leaking badly, i cleaned the x-fader out using a small paintbrush, a credit card, household polish spray like mr sheen or something and a tissue.
first i took the x-fader out (not touching the wiring of course) so i could get inside it better with the brush, then i sprayed a little bit of polish onto the table and dabbed the paintbrush in it, then wiping it off with my fingers so its just kinda damp.. i then brushed the inside of the x-fader to get some of the dust and out... after that i took a credit card and a tissue, i wrapped the tissue around the credit card and sprayed it with polish. using this i went inside the x-fader and thourougly cleaned it. the amount of dust and dirt i picked up was amazing...
when i put it all back together it was good as new. |
