huh? That's what I said:conf:

Damn sarcasm, never gets interpereted right on forums.:whip:

Shall I articulate my point at the risk of starting middle east flame thread? Sure, why not! lol

Israel is Bin Laden's (and Islamic terrorists) enemy #1, along with America. Ask yourself this: Why? Is it because America and Israel "exploit" the poor muslims? Nope. Is it because of their imperialist aims to steal their land? Show me the conquesting armies mowing down villiages and taking over cities in the name of establishing American or Israeli colonies. Can't? Thought so.

The reason is that America represents certain values that are antithetical to the values of fundamentalist Islam (or all fundamentalist religion for that matter). This is the "Great Satan" that Bin Laden is always referring to. Israel happens to be a sliver of land that embodies those same/similar set of values. It's not a wild extrapolation to then say it's obvious why Israel can have a thriving club scene, exporting for example, some of the finest psy trance to grace my ears. And, for example, why the rest of the middle east hasn't exported much of anything except hate and oil in the last few thousand years. Even oil wouldn't be getting exported if it weren't for Western science and technology.

Sorry if I'm preaching to the choir, or if I sound like a right-wing propagandist:p I'm just disseminating the truth:tongue3

lets turn this into a shpongle thread.. im missing those :D

by the way arabs invented the zero.. so id like to see western science thrive without that contribution.

there are alot of goood doctors, engineers from the middle east that do contracting work everywhere around the world.. theyre not on cnn but lets not get into that.. your just making stupid generalizations

WESTERN SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY.. heh
im sure israel and the US are responsible for 100% of that

and aliens built the pyramids

It's not like that. Times have changed and things are much more subtle now, like for example with the CIA trying to overthrow governments all over the place and installing favourable leaders as replacements.

Wow, I'm speechless. The middle east hasn't exported much except hate and oil? Read that over a few times and then tell me you are only disseminating the truth. Why is it that my prof doing research on robotics told us a university in Tehran beat him to releasing a paper on similar research? Why do schools like Harvard take students like my uncle's PhD student and give him a scholarship to study there? Why is it that my cousin who recently finished high school in Iran got scholarship offers at almost every university he applied to in North America? It must be because the middle east exports hate and oil right?

It is very scary that the US Media is catering to the Bush doctrine...The CBC show "Passionate Eye" will air a special on the fact that the US media hasn't delved deep into WHY the Bush administration is choosing this course of action...One White House reporter stated it best that the US media "is in a coma":eyespop: .Last nite on the "Passionate Eye" was the story of a military family & the loss of their son in Iraq. The mother is a school teacher & researched reasons why the US is in Iraq and other facts about the Bush administration...It was a very good special.

As for Osama & this video coming out NOW just before the election well I think its tactical.Osama WANTS Bush to win because Bush admited a while back that Osama isn't a big interest anymore.Anlike Kerry who, if he wins, will devore more energy & manpower to locate & kill Osama & other Al Quaeda terrorists in the Afguan border OR even the Iraq/Iran border...

Here's hoping that Kerry takes it on Tuesday:tongue2

Basically, all those djs that are of middle eastern or origin (or Persian in the case of Iran ie deep dish, learn your geography folks!:stongue: ). They did not become big djs and producers by throwing parties at the local falafal shop or schwarma hut in the centre of Tehran, Peshawar, or Kabul. They all come from the US! At least in the case of Filo and Peri and Deep Dish.

The Middle East at one point in History was the source of reason, progress, and technology while Europe was steeped in religious fundamentalism...hence mesopotamia is considered to be the "cradle of civilization." However, at this point in time, it's irrefutable that the Middle East is currently the toilet bowl of civilization. OK OK! I'm just kidding, I'll leave my extreme language at the door. But let's put it this way: The whole of the middle east combined has the same Gross Domestic Product as Belgium and Holland. Each year, more literary works are translated into Spanish than were translated into Arabic in the whole modern history of the Middle East.

For those of you that cite examples of stuff going on in academics in the middle east, that's great...but ever notice how so many of them come to America, Canada or Europe to advance their studies? Also, I agree that the reformist movements in academia in Iran for example should continue to be supported by the West. Also, the one traditions of Islam(can't really spell it), "Ishdihad(?)." This component of Islam has been associated with reason, debate, and progress. Currently, it's absent from the dominant forces of fundamentalism that seem to grip the region.

alot of literary works these days are simply ranting relative material made for people with nothing better to do (no offense to you book readers). so if theres no demande why should they be translated. it doesnt effect the status of the region or the technology of the country in anyway.

you obviously have never been to the middle east and think egyptians live in pyramids and im sure if you didnt live in canada youd think we live in igloos

im sure a party at a shawarma place would be fun.. but the middle east does have alot of good clubs.. especially in egypt where they have djs spin in front of the pyramids in the desserts (judge jules, oakenfold tiesto and many others)

i cant speak for hte rest of the middle east since i havent been there.

and deep dish are iranian and im sure your views against them are the same.

toilet bowl?

well if thats what you call your foundation to civilization.. then its no wonder your such a head
