| Damn, the lighting looks sick. |

It was OK, but it only looked impressive if you were near the front. The lasers just weren't big enough overall, IMO. I always heard amazing things about the lighting and lasers at the big Skills events, but I wasn't hugely impressed.
What _was_ nice about the lasers, though, is the colors. Not just the basic green we always see. :-p
Anyone who thought A&B was boring needs to get into today's trance and its style...because what they play is what is essentially popular these days. Guess people still want all epic trance at the big events...I would have love some epic trance, but at the same time, I love progressive trance so no complaints here. :)

Yeah, Above & Beyond really could have done a better job, but Oceanlab was great, and I agree that Dyloot had the best set that night. |
HAHAHA what the hell are you talking about above and beyond could do a better job? you are crazy they had an awesome set, and how can you say dyloot had the best set when all hes tunes are old and still playing that cyber-trance you should really spend some more time listening to real trance and you will know what i mean.... |

Maybye you should take your own advice, exactly how many Above & Beyond sets have you ever heard? Do a little comparing and you'll know what I mean... |

Totally agree with you on that. I love today's progressive trance sound but I don't hear it played too often at raves. Everyone I run into seem to only enjoy Epic/Uplifting/Hard Trance or Hardcore music. It would have been sweet to hear a progressive trance set at a rave. My type of XTC music. ;) |

Yeah, if you do a little comparing, you will notice that they clearly played some harder tracks and faster overall more than they usualy. A&B is somewhat known for playing VERY SOFT progressive, and they didn't play the progressive tracks softely at all.
People need to stop eating their own words. :p
I thought Dyloot's set was AWESOME, but thought Lange had the most creative set and A&B had the most solid set, IMO. And it goes back to what djkyo set about Dyloot. He did play a lot of old tracks. |

I still loved their sets, they were all wonderful and I had fun. I think my hearing has recovered now :D
By the way I'm curious which one is Jono Grant, and which one is Paavo Siljamaki, and which one is Tony McGuinness? I've only seen two guys one younger dude in the Anjunabeats T-shirt, one older fellow in a yellow T-shirt, and a mysterious buzzcut looking dude that was flashing and pointing to the words on his T-shirt "I love !" Hmm some other fellows backstage but I've never seen pictures of them up close to recognize faces. |

Yes, it is true that they carry a reputation for being progressivly soft live and that they were much harder than usual this time, however, if you know them well then also know that A&B have the potential to put together a much better set than the one the did that night. Perhaps I went with too high expectations, but I wasn't impressed based on what I've heard from them in the past. So I'm not "eating my own words." Besides, this was a thread about impressions anyway, just let it be either way.
As for Dyloot having the best set, wrong choice of words. I thought Dyloot was great that night, even though his track slection was old, how new the traks are is not what makes a great set. Oceanlab, Lange, and Dyloot were all awsome, all top tier IMO. It was a great time all around and we all agree, so enough stabs at each other, there's too much of that on TA as it is. |

I gotta agree with C3sharp on this one. A & B's track did sound mostly the same. Who cares how old or new the tracks are if it gets the crowd going and people are enjoying it then isn't that the whole point? I must have come in with high expectations from A & B but they just didn't meet them. Lange, Oceanlab and Dyloot was all very good and really had me dancing.
To those who were saying cyber-trance is i'm sorry for you because there are some truly beautiful cyber trance tracks that you wil never hear because your too stuck in your preferances. |
