Can you imagine what would happen in the event of a tie? With a republican congress we all know who would win, but I can't even begin to guess what the public's response would be. After the last election the democrats (I'm generalizing) were up in arms about the electoral college system even though it has been in place for hundreds of years. I can't imagine what the losing side would say if the house of reps ultimately voted in the next president.

it might be the republicans who are up in arms this year seeing as it looks like G.W holds the popular vote but might lose the battlegrounds

these polls are at the best general in nature. they change every day, some of them from strong bush to strong kerry and vice versa.

why dont we just bug off the polls and wait another day, and we'll have a whole new breed of topics to discuss :)

This polls are really confusing me. THe polls that use to give KErry a lead give Bush a 1-2% lead, and those that give Bush ( Gallup/Fox ).. are giving Kerry some 3-4% leads in states such as Florida.. and elsewhere.. driving me nuts.

As for the zogby national poll that Mec posted is well withing the margin of error.. total tie.

If we compare the polls of this year to 2000, we can see that Kerry is way stronger then Gore.. if it comes out to be something like 2000, Kerry will end up winning by a landslide ( that's if polls mess up like they did with Gore in 2000 ) .. Could it be?!?!..

You forgot to mention this time we only have 3% undecided as opposed to 8% undecided in 2000:cool:

Could it all come down to Florida again? :(

Christ I hope not! I really think we'll have a freakin' civil war if we have a contested Florida again. Many folks think Ohio might be the contested state this time, however. In any case, I really hope we have a clear winner this time around, even if it is the guy I did not vote for.

tribu
Just a little FYI, Ohio has 20 electoral votes.

what if Bush wins the popular according to what zogby has predicted and then loses the electoral...LOL!

I still believe the big question mark is Pennsylvania

It was heavy lean Kerry and now its a tie according to zogby
