tonearm issues...

sorry, this has certainly been asked before, but search is out of order.
friend just got his deck back from a repair shop, it was being fixed up, as it was badly messed up. everything is good except for that one of the tonearms pulls out. we balanced it at 0 weight, just so it could hover perfectly, and when pushed to the center, it will move back out. my friend has refused to try and mix like this, afraid he might damage something, but i was able to cue a record and listen to tracks with no skipping. nonetheless, he's peeved by this.
what can be causing this? he'd take it back to the shop, but it's the only one here, it's rather far, and he has declared more trust in me and "my internet friends that love to spin records" than the shop.
anti-skate variation from 0 to 3 has no effect at all, from what i could see. i can ask him to check though. |

More than likely: tonearm torque screws
What you need to do is loosen them up a bit (this is the screw within a screw on top of the tonearm). Once you have it looser, the tonearm won't pull. Don't worry, this is an easy fix. |
