There is so much good hip hop out there.. Just not the canned music that gets radio play.
Anyone in the US knows how much crap most of our Dance stations play. |

Look I fully understand TranceAddict has an unspoken policy against genre bashing that goes a little something like this:
"there is good and bad in all genres and just because you don't like a genre doesn't mean its crap or the people that listen to it have bad taste in music".
Sure I can understand that point, but to be honest it is my decision to hate a complete genre of music if I don't like it. Thats my choice and I'm sure you can offer your opinion on why I am wrong or right, but please save me the ignorance lecture.
The worst part is that along with pretty much being unlistenable you also have to put up with filmclips of people wearing stupid clothes and girls that aren't that attractive to begin with. |
what is unlistenable?? just cause your brain thinks too slow to process what they are saying, its very listenable to me.
and what film clips are you talking about?? Does your hip hop knowledge begin at MTV?? Cause it shouldnt! |

Ah here we go again, criticising an opinion without offering one yourself.
I read an interview with Dumonde not long ago where they said that they have trouble playing at home these days with most of the clubs playing R&B, and they have to hit the road to get their music to the people. That pretty much summed up the situation for mine. |

What are they saying?
From what I have seen it generally includes:
1. Telling each other how good they are.
2. How tough they are.
3. How many women they get and what they do.
4. Criminal activity these try hard gangster wannabes think they can do whilst being scared to get a parking ticket.
5. Telling each other how good they are.
6. Telling us about how rich they are.
7. Drugs.
Did I miss anything?
This music was extremely relevant when darker Americans were fighting for recognition and better placement of their group whilst displaying their originality but now it has become a place for mega huge egos and little kids with big bank balances. Through its own success the genre has forgotten, and lost its roots.
To be honest I don't listen to every release made in this genre, and nor am I saying that if you like this kind of music that some good does not come out from time to time; but IMO this music has run out of new ideas and is on the downward spiral. And it can't happen fast enough.
As for filmclips, I'm yet to see too many that don't include:
1. Girls in ultra revealing clothing.
2. Guys with expensive jewellery.
3. Stupid clothes no-one would actually consider wearing.
4. Expensive cars.
This music is so massed produced these days the record company have a set model on releasing tracks to the masses; its the McDonalds of music imo. |

to answer your questions... yes. they do talk about more than what you listed and also, african americans in the u.s. along with all us other minorities are STILL struggling to have some sort of voice in our political system. think about it, every president has been an old white male who was christian or catholic. now thats not really the true representation of america. and even senators, representatives, etc.... not enough people of color. at all. trust me, things are not equal... and probably never will be. |

Am I not now allowed to ask questions? That's one trance act in an imaginary interview. You're gathering from that that clubs around the world are shutting down because of R&B? You want my opinion? You're a racist, a bigot, and above all an idiot.
But here's something of substance...maybe you should be worrying about Alternative Rock instead.
Though i'm sure that when black people and black culture aren't involved you're just fine with it. |

Without entering a political debate, with R&B music so popular and the limited success in getting African Americans into positions of power, I'd suggest trying a new strategy.
I'm sure that experts on this genre will be quick to argue with my generalisations and opinions and find examples that prove me wrong, however I can't help but think that this whole genre of music has had its peak and is ready for a decent crash. |

Don't put words in my mouth.
You are taking my inferences a little too far.
If you need to constantly exaggerate to make your point then you need to improve the basis for your argument I'd suggest.
Call me names, it matters little.
Now, back to the subject matter, I'm still waiting for your first opinion on the thread title, and don't be concerned, I won't pick it too pieces and argument about small points in an annnoying fashion, like some. |

I'm neither for nor against R&B. If anything i'd say that the the R&B scene, led by Timbaland/Missy Elliot, The Neptunes, The Matrix, and other producers have been racing forward with genius creativity in the pop music world in the past 5 years. Which is more than can be said for certain other EDM genres. And you might want to read the rest of my previous post. |

Fair opinion. IMO these producers may innovate but its not exactly quality production, it is the trance version of high selling cheese that is hitting out middle ears on regular occurance.
I notice that you edited a previous post after I quoted you. And General Discussion is not the place to argue nor enter such discussions, but I take great offence at being called racist. I've PM'ed you to discuss this and take this argument off the boards and I'm more than willing to delete any post that is deemed at all derogitary of any ethnic group. |

Oh shut up. I'm not going to argue with you about whether you're racist or not. If you are you are and if you're not you're not. Why are you listening to me? Why are you even trying to defend yourself? If someone called me a racist here i'd treat it like nothing if I paid any mind to it at all, because i'm not racist. This is getting way off topic. |
