CARY, N.C., Oct. 26 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Special Forces Veterans who served in Vietnam have released an open letter to Senator John Kerry opposing him as a Presidential candidate.

The statement released on http://www.VetsforBush.NET states, "He slandered and dishonored all Vietnam Veterans in false and exaggerated testimony before the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee."

The Veterans demand that Senator Kerry sign the Standard Form 180 to release all his military records in order to examine Kerry's contention that his Vietnam service lies at the heart of his fitness for office.

Of 377 Special Forces Vietnam Veterans who reviewed the letter, 365 endorsed it in solidarity with Swift Boat officers and men who oppose Kerry (http://www.swiftvets.com/).

"We released our letter online," said letter coordinator Steve Sherman, former Special Forces officer, "because VetsforBush.NET provides responsible news to Veterans who overwhelmingly support reelection of President Bush."

Sherman served in the same unit as another solider now supporting Kerry and addressed the issue in the Wall Street Journal (http://www.opinionjournal.com/forms...ml?id=110004604)

More recently, he contributed to the "Boston Manifesto" in which Vietnam Veterans and historians concluded that Kerry promoted phony veterans testifying to atrocities they did not commit.

"When Kerry chose to make Vietnam the centerpiece of his campaign," said Sherman, "it awoke smoldering opposition from two-and-one-half million Vietnam Veterans who understood how Kerry had used secret meetings with enemy leaders and propaganda hearings to start his political career at the expense of men under fire, POWs and those who served honorably.

"Unfortunately, the mainstream media's refusal to report this story fully and honestly -- while pandering to the year-long attack on President Bush, even with forged documents -- has created a backlash that has further turned people to alternate media. That is why we have released the Special Forces Veterans letter on the Internet at VetsforBush.NET.

"The American people should read the open letter from Veterans who understand Kerry's pretensions better than anyone. Informed Americans can make their own decisions."
