Only thing I can hope for now is that Bush s up big time in the next four years... serves him right:haha:

I thought there was a law in the US that states that a president can only serve for a maximum of two terms

What I don't get, is that FDR served 3 terms (1933-1945). Did they make an exception because of WW2?

*edit* FDR even got elected for a fourth term, but died soon after his inauguration

Sorry.

I interpreted this statement as implying that "Only thing I can hope for now is that Bush s up big time in the next four years" so that he wouldn't get voted in again.......

I thought he was implying that he might run for a third term, so i was just pointing out that there was a maximum of two terms.

I am well aware of that fact :p :p

Wow what a sad day this must be for the world. I hope the United States realizes just what a destructive wheel it has set in motion today. Not only have American voted Bush into office, they have also reinforced Republican control of the House and put more Republicans in the Senate. Bush can now appoint literally anyone he wants into the Supreme Court.

So to summarize, a man who did NOT receive the popular vote in his original campaign four years ago, who did NOT receive a mandate by the people and won through sneaky and coercive means now has used fear-mongering in order to scare the public into voting. He now also has pretty much control of the House, The Senate, and soon, the Courts. Three entities that are supposed to be separate.

I remember someone in history who also used sneaky and fear-mongering methods to consolidate power in order to fight a war. He lived in Germany in the 1940s, you might have heard of him.

Remember this day, for every Canadian that has ever made fun of the intellectual capacity of an American, you now have concrete facts to back up your ridicule. Americans have made a grevious mistake today, and I genuinly hope that the world will not suffer for it.....

I'm not quite sure whether I'm going to be more upset at Bush's policies for the next four years or all the bitching, conspiracy theories, and godwin's that will ensue.

Oh well ... so long and thanks for all the fish!

People didn't start hating the guy until the war in Iraq. I highly doubt after all the backlash he has received since then, we will see any similar military activity (sans another 9/11) in the next 4 years.
