What happened to all the kids?

Halloween turnout was very low this year. I got about 20 kids at my door. My parents got 30. I was speaking to others today that said they got 15.
I remember we used to get 100-150 kids every year. What happened??? Are people THAT paranoid? ANd if they are thats quite sad because nothing has changed in 25 years except perception. |

maybe the recent rise in child abductions/abduction attempts/murders is making people not letting their kids out for trick or treating. just a thought |

What rise? Show me stats
If anything these have lowered in proportion to the population.
I remember a lot more kids going missing back in the 80s and never on halloween.
Paranoia is the biggest problem these days fuelled by irresponsible media |

Hey, if u haven't noticed lots more kids like to sit in front of a ps2/xbox/gamcube/GBA that go outside. |

And if i ever have kids that wont be happening. And they wonder why there are so many fatties. |

In my area, the kids were on the decline too.
I blame the fact my area of the city has become too expensive for young families to live in. No more than 10 years ago, the average property on my street cost about $300,000-$350,000, and my new neighbours just bought their house for something close to $425,000.
Some areas are up, some down I guess. |

That could be true but i heard a lot of people talking about having parties for kids instead of trick or treating. Thats just sad. Our traditions mean nothing today. The worst thing that happens to kids or anyone on halloween is smashed pumpkins and keyed cars. |

here is how many kids came to my door... ZERO. I turned off the front lights leading ot the door and i put masking tape on the doorbell. Incase it wasn't obvious, i wrote a sign on the front door saying we got no treats.
we do that every haloween cuz whenever anyone is home, we just wanna chill and not be disturbed. With my family, having someone ring the bell when we're not expecting guests is a rare occasion.
edit: we try to prevent unwanted guests. it's like spam in ur inbox. |

| I was up in north bay for halloween...the house we were at had over 60 kids at least. Also there was soo many families on the streets, it was great! I had to hold onto my nephew for dear life so i dont lose him! (Not that anybody could lose a 2 ft neon bob the builder!) |
