Bush and American Security: Better or Worse?

Well, the American people just blew their chance to get rid of what the rest of the world considers the cause of deteriorating international security but...what do you think?
Has Bush (as he claims) increased the security of America in the war against terrorism or has he made it worse by becoming the single greatest contributor to the swelling ranks of the al-Qaida ideology? |

| Well I can only speak for myself, being a Canadian that does hold dual citzenship into the states, I don't feel safe but I don't blame Bush completely for it. The worldwide landscape has changed and with people just killing others in the name of religion is wrong. I don't see how you could kill 3,000 people and justify it. The world has become very volatile and very dangerous and that's not just America that you can blame, you can blame a lot of factors. People are using violence more and more these days as a means to deal with conflict and as history has shown us, it just increases the violence and the cycle continues till people actually put their egos aside and make an agreement. The world is now a dangerous place and I'm not sure who is to blame but you have the palestine-isreal conflict, muslim extremists against Westerners, the Genocide in Sudan. The world is just out of control and people are being taught that violence is the only way, which it isn't. So Bush claiming that he has made the world a safer a place, is not correct but how could he make it safer? I don't think he can |

Fair points but I was specifically asking about the security of America (National Security) not the entire world... |

The airstrikes against Afghanistan in 1998 by Clinton swelled the ranks of the al-Qaida ideology and new camps had to be set up to deal with the influx of new volunteers. This was due to people coming to the conclusion that bin Laden et al were in fact right about America's attitude towards the Muslim world. Al-Qaida would have struggled to attract half as many new recruits as they did just because of those airstrikes...
Just imagine the affect Bush has had on radical political Islam!!!!!! |

| I don't think it was Bush that had the effect on radical islam. I think that radical Islam was going to come out of hiding, whoever was President. Islam, from what I've read in teh Quran says that you must use violence at times and I think that it was only a matter of time till people used easily swayed people to achieve their goals. |
