dude
IKEA sells some nice desk called JERKER and its great for studio use
Emperor
thanks. i want a very nice one and it must have quite a few rack mounts, space for large controller etc....ikea is pretty cheap quality.when not made for music production they 'can' work but if you use it alot i think it is better to have one made for music production (correct controller height, monitor height etc.)
Emperor
oh...and preferrably black to match the soundproofing and plasma ;)

i think you are wrong Ikea desk can be seen i many studios(adjustable shelf's, many acc. as well).I have seen dozen times in SOS and other magazines used by PROS
but if you looking for something different go to www.savedbytechnology.com, they are in Toronto and they have some nice desks but they start around $1400 or just order one on line from US much cheaper.Anyways to get something decent you looking around $1000, why not get someone to bulid it for ya the way you want it?

Hi there.

I have an Ikea Jekker desk and i like it, It cost me about $180 bucks canadian the way it's set up, and it's fully adjustable, It is stable, never have any problems with it. It's not small, you have alot of room, you can put an 88 key controller on it if you want, it will fit. I run 2 19 inch crt monitors on it and thease are big, if you have lcd's than there's eaven more room for you to put stuff on it. I also have monitor side shelves, that are hight adjustable, and they go back and forth on an angle.. And the main desk surface is hight adjustable as well, so you cand get a comfortable working height. Anyways i don't think the desk is cheap, compared to what you pay for it. I had it for 2 years and i use it daily, and don't eaven have a scratch on it. It's not wabbly, unlike some more expansive desk i had in the past. Sure you can spend $1400+ on specific studio desk, but sometimes it's not worth it. I have a friend who bought a omnirax desk for well over a grand and after 2 years it has one synth module in it and a controller, so unless you're planing to really expending and buying a lot of modules i would personally really look into it if it's worth it.

If you have a lot of modules and outboard gear, and you have a desk simmilar to the ikea one, that has no rack spaces, all You have to do is get some nice side racks. They have them in all kinds of sizes, and angles that will not look out of place by most desks. And it's not that expensive.

Check out my studio pictures below to see the ikea desk in my setup..

Hi, yes the monitor shelves are also from ikea, they are addons for the jekker desks. When you go to ikea they have a little jekker catalog with all kinds of addon shelves, so make sure you tell em ya wanna see it. They have whole bunch of attatchments, and stuff for the desk.. I got those two monitor shelves and the shelve that supports my two screens as extra addons, and the price came to $180 cdn for the whole thing, including the desk itself..
And the desk is height adjustable... i had it once up to my knee height cause i was laying on the bed and making trax, I was really lazy hehe..
