I've never made a Resume before and am trying to apply for some entry level jobs and stuff as I am taking a semester off school and try my hand at the work place. I am really looking for an entry level job in an IT field.

The problem is the only work experience I have is Toys R Us, which doesnt seem to qualify me for these positions :toothless

I do however, have knowledge in this field as I've been using computers heavily since I was 5.

So what, I'm basically asking is does anyone have any resources on how to put togethor or a resume or perhaps some tips for someone trying to get their foot in the door?

a lot of times school or other projects you have done are relevant on your resume.

also, you should use the career services resources at your school to work on your resume, if you have one. they help a lot.

if you don't have a lot to put on the actual resume, then definitely do a cover letter along with it. make it a good one. sell yourself:)

Objective: Looking to add my intelligence and energy to the quickly growing and fast paced Obelisk Technology group.

Skills:

Excellent learner: A 3.8 GPA shows my ability to retain information and use it. At Toys-R-Us was quickly trusted to handle and count cash.

Friendly and Energetic: Part of a school "Flag Football" team. We failed miserably, but enjoyed many after-game get togethers and quickly became well known throughout the intermural sports ring.

Technologically Minded: Engineered my home network over a wireless adapter. Set up security and organized protocols to enhance peer to peer file sharing. Have taught myself basics of C and Java.

Education:

something like that. Take your skills and say how it would apply to the company. Dont say youd like to get to know technology or you want to learn. Because that means they are paying for your education. Say how you can help THEM.

Do what you can. They know what its about so put yourself out there in the best light possible.

There are a lot of resources on the net and freeware. Just search. BTW resumes are over-rated.
