Hi people

Haven't been around for a while but did a mix a couple of weeks back and i would love to get some feedback from you guys. I'm reasonably happy with the mixing (some work still to be done) but some other opinions would be very helpful.

Tracklist wise I think it has a good flow and I think its the best mix I've done in that sense.

Track list looks great. I'll be frank, I'm sick and tired of hearing 'Cages', but I won't hold that against you.

The flow between the first three or four tracks is good. You're keeping a consitent element. Beatmatching was JUUUUUUUUUST a little choppy between 'Cages' and 'Wave Force', but it wasn't really that noticeable.. Kill / Decrease your High-End on the outgoing track to help make it less noticeable.

I was kind of skeptical about going from something as ambient and proggy as 'Wave Force' into Voller Sterne, but you did it relatively well. Served as a good gateway into the more stacatto tempo you're introducing.

As with 'Cages', I'm also sick and bloody tired of Above & Beyond's mix of 'Sand In My Shoes'. However, ALSO like before, I can't / won't fault you, because it's a wonderful mix. I've just heard them SO many times in the last weeks that it's just obscene. The transition worked well here also, though this track is also rather low key.. Therefore it might have fit nicely alongside your earlier tracks as well. It also sounds like something occured with your volume / gain halfway through the chorus here.. Just thought I'd be a prick and point that out. ;)

I'll fast forward through the rest: I was quite impressed with it from here on. Great beatmatching and track selection (common perhaps, but quality nonetheless), and nicely done between Synasthesia and Taurine. Notice how Paavo ALWAYS seems to add samples of Crowds cheering / clapping along? :haha:

Good Job! I'll always enjoy anyone who Whores out Anjuna Records. :D Quite the Enjoyable listen! 4/5!

For the record.. JER'S LIST OF OVER-WHORED RECORDS ATM:

Young Parisians & Ben Lost - Jump The Next Train (Kyau vs. Albert Mix)
Girl Nobody - Cages (Lemon8 Mix)
Tranquility Base - Surrender (Original Mix)

I just hope that people don't kill ALT+F4 Before it's even released. :haha:

thanks for the feedback ZeroVII! I've had Wave Force for a couple of weeks but have had some trouble mixing with it - don't know why!! I'll definitely try out what you said with regards to the transition :)

I'm glad it worked for you from a flow point of view. I chose the Mirco de Govia mix of Voller Sterne because I think its less banging than the Super8 mix, less played, and I also prefer it!

As for overplayed tracks I too am sick of Jump the next train  :p I think you'll find Alt+F4 hammered in the next view weeks though mate - got my vinyl copy yesterday ;) :D

Thanks again :)

..It happens to all of us. :D Good move on the track choice, too. Super8's rendition would have been FAR too percussive that early on.

As for Alt+F4, Yes. It's going to be whored out so much it'll cry. :haha: But it's some more exposure for that great project AS WELL as Anjunabeats, so I really shouldn't complain.

Still going at it Jamie ;-)

Keep it up mate!

I think that ZeroVII did an excellent job of commenting on the mixing. I'll only add that although i enjoyed the set, the tempo was a little slow for me through the middle 1/4s, but i really enjoyed the last 1/4. (I guess its a matter of personal taste.) Thanks for the share.;)

thanks for listening :)

Can I just ask re: the tempo are do you think that the pitch is too slow for that part of the mix or is it the selection of tunes?

Do I need to pinch a bit more on the pitch generally through the set?

thanks again ;)

i like the selection of tunes, but you may be able to pick up the pitch a little (+2 or 3) without compromising anything. to me the set sounded better when i adjusted the pitch +3, to 137.4 ; it just sounded more alive. but then again, it may be just a matter of personal preference.

yeah i think you're right. i often think that about my mixes - i will try to pitch them up a bit in future. i think often its because of the varying speed of the records that i use - i try to start off quite proggy and build from there...

cheers again :)
