Hello
this question is haunting me for several weeks
I want to focus on music mastering and right I am using Waves plug ins and I know they are pretty decent but I want to get DSP card UAD-1 and I ma trying to find out if there will be significant difference in sounds quality?
Some folks say that Waves are just as good as UAD-1, is that right?
Any UAD users out there??????

thanks

personally id saw the waves plugins are better than the UAD1 plugins, only diference is the waves will use your cpu.

now remember

THIS IS ONLY MY OPINION, before the usual people come on and say
"waves suck, UAD is the best"

the waves plugins are extremely expensive, but thats for a reason, there some of the best plugins available, well worth the money if you know how to use them to there full potential.

if you where going for a dsp card, id reccomend the powercore firewire, comes wit a great selection of free plugins, the virus powercore is simply amazing if you want to purchase it aswell, and it supports 3rd party developers, which is another good reason why i think its better than the UAD-1.

again all just my opinions.

I'm a happy powercore user... but if you want the best of both worlds get a powercore and uad, since you have waves i say you already have the best. And both cards have their adventages in certain areas, that's why a lot of people have both. I picked the powercore because I was interested in the virus plugin, and wanted to use the compressors and limiters without using my cpu. I might get an uad sometimes in the future, but right now i would like a hardware reverb unit.

don't bother..TC Electronic ClassicVerb and MegaVerb are as good as it gets.. ClassicVerb is great for filling up a sound.. and MegaVerb is the port of TC's System 6000 (a $6000 reverb unit)
