| why not record to wav, then find ANOTHER free program that will convert wav to mp3 |

Everythings free on the internet, just look in the right places.
As far as certain software recording the line in, i'm pretty certain it depends on your recoding settings in the volume control rather hten the program itself. I personally use Cool edit pro have been for years never a problem. - Tempest |

| I use the wave editor that came with Nero to record my mixes. It does it into WAV and then I ocnvert to MP3 to archive. |

use cool edit pro 2. it records then saves directly to mp3. as will soundforge and other such programs but i dont know if the encoding is so hot in those ;)
any recording software will have to temporarily store it in raw format before encoding though... |

download winamp
download the plugin "oddcast"
That is meant for streaming your mix over the internet, you should be able to trick it to think you are connected (download the shoutcast server if you cant). set that all up and that will record your mix. you might also be able to do this w/ the nullsoft diskwriter plugin for winamp & shoutcast. |
