Deep Dish @ HOB Review

Allright, first of all i gotta give a big ol YOU!!! to House of Blues, but we will get to that in a minute.
Greg and I get to HOB at about 11:30. After insane security and a full cavity search, we finally get into the club. We wander around for a few, we bump into Ben, Rach and her friend. A few drinks later Deep dish is about to come on and rock the house. I see Damon and say hi to him, Colleen and Pat.
House of blues was set up better than I have ever seen it. 3 projection screens are set up behind the booth running some really crazy ass visusalizers with 4 intelligent lighing systems set up on the stage in addition to the usual house lights. and they obviously added some new spaekers cuz i have never hear that place sound so good.
So we see Deep Dish get into the booth and greg and i decide to head upstair for a quick smoke before the music gets really good. and this is where everything goes to :
I dont remember if i posted this earlier, but my wallet was stolen earlier this week. i get into the club wiht my birth certificate and a debit card with my picture on it. they wouldnt give me a wrist band because it wasn't "valid ID" but they let me in anyways. greg gets me a drink from the bar and we are outside smoking when a bouncer come up behind me and takes me outside. so yeah i got kicked out of the club after paying 22.50 for a ticket, after hearing about 3 minutes of deep dish, because i am drinking and I AM 21!!! WTF, never in my life have i been trated so rudely by the staff and the management of an establishment.
so i'm sure you will read many great reviews after this because im sure deep dish threw it down and it was a great show, but i will never in my life give any of my money to HOB or disney for that matter. I dont care if HOB brings in PvD, Armin, and Tiesto in the same night, I will Never and i mean NEVER return to that hole of a place run by total nazis.

Holy dude, I'm sorry to hear that... they are nazis over at HOB. Hell I wasn't able to drink because my licence was expired. :whip: :whip: :whip: :whip:
I got there pretty ing early (around 9-ish), early enough to see the tables, everything being set up. I thought I'd peep my head in side look around, see if anything interesting was happeing and then go back outside check out Virgin.
BUT NOOOOOOO NO REENTRY, THAT !
I was stuck there for two hours with my thumb up my ass watching the basketball game. (that's until they turned that off to show off the stage).
Got damn, I think it was that all ages thing. I KNOW I was able to drink last time I saw a show there (Crystal Method), and the age requirement was the same that night.
On the bright side, Deep Dish was in awesome! Deep Dish > Sander, and I have fond memories of Sander. They played a lot of remixes of popular songs. Pat pointed out to me that they played "I want my, I want my, I want my, MTV" song, that one Blur song, "Owner of a Lonely Heart" and some other remixes I can't remember right now. So what I found pleasently surprising, they had an AWESOME stage set up, with the visualizers, the lights, and WOW the sound system was not ty, but actually pretty in good! Plus I actually got to shake the first guy to DJ from Deep Dish'es hand! (Doesn't that sound noobish)
The highlight of the night for me was when one of the guys played Kings of Tommarow's, Finally's accapella, and mixed that into the Blurr song, and Finally is one of my faveorite house tunes! :D
I'm pretty tired right now, I've got to drive to Tampa tommarow as well.
Shoutouts to Rachel, her friend Jason, Frank, Greg, Phil, Colleen, Damon, and Pat.
And a big sharp dildo in the anus to HOB for treating my friends that way. |

Phil....god we thought you guys just left?? Im thinking, ok there is no way Phil just LEFT the Deep Dish show, you've been telling me about it for weeks. Ugh, well Im sorry. Now I feel guilty about putting in a review. :( It will be short.
Well, there were only a few of us TA's but, we still had a in blast. That music kicked ass, I was dancing the whole damn time!!! What a great venue House of Blues is (except for the management obviously). They did not allow cameras, ffss whatever dude..I took pics anyway, hehe. I will post of course when I get them developed, sorry its not a digital.
There were huge screens set up all on the stage with amazing visuals going along with the music. That place is just huge. It was pretty crowded, but not so crowded to where you cant breathe or dance, it was perfect. I am not a house fan really, BUT I REALLY liked Deep Dish. Ben and I just went nuts on the dancefloor!! I had a great time with the TA's as usual: Damon, Patrick, Ben, Rachel, her friend Jason, Phil and Greg, even though I saw you guys for about 2.2 seconds :(

That really sucks, Phil. I remember when we went to HOB for Max's show they gave you hell for having a camera. They talked about all the "expensive pictures" on the walls and that taking pictures inside of HOB was prohibited. Of course they had to prevent us from taking pictures of each other just in case we were actually casing the place to rob them later that morning. Ummm...sure thing people. :mad: :p

First off, Phil Im sorry that happen, I wish I was there to give them hell or help out somehow, I never like that to happen to one of the crew, paying for the ticket, and getting thrown out over a bull matter, taking away the freedom of enjoying yourself with others, to the music, is something terrible wrong with that place and time to rework on the way they run that place, last time I was there was for ferry last november and they didnt give me on my camera and the 5 minute anal pat down, I mean wtf is up with, cmon HOB, dont start getting like sardine central, we dont know another one of those. Anyways, another first time seeing a House DJ, and wow, just like sander, they rocked the place, the set, the vibe, and the TA's, even though we were like on a crew of like 5, it wasnt the same without having the rest, but we still manage to have a fun time and dance our asses off.
Now, Im ready for some trance, Edgar/Ferry next fri should hopefully be a good time and cant wait to be home again, good seeing peeps last night and we will converge at Space on friday baby, whoaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa see ya then!!! |
