What do you guys think about it? I have tried it. Its ok, takes a load of RAM. Very nice graphics though. Tell me what you think of it.

I'm sure Intel and Kingston are glad to hear that. Newer OS that requires you to upgrade your hardware... can you say conspiracy? :stongue:

I've heard a few things about Longhorn, but only from people on the internet. I haven't looked into it or anything, so what's the deal?? Is it gonna be something new and exciting or just another money-making scheme with pretty graphics??

don't those two option mean exactly the same thing to the average consumer these days? :o

thereve been posts on this in the past, searching could scrounge some decent info. i know that at least one TA is or was working for Micro on Longhorn, so perhaps the Washington forums could also help...

besides what fun would Word be if you didnt have to buy a new computer to run it! lol|

Yeh, it's been released to certain microsoft beta testers but there are a bunch of copies that always leak out for each build. I downloaded a build of longhorn a couple months ago, but I heard there were a bunch of memory leaks in the code so I never installed it.

i swear .. it seems every windows that comes out, they recommend double the RAM as the previous predecessor version of Windows... does anyone here have Server 2003?? how much RAM do they suggest? i know this is good for Kingston and the rest of the memory companies, but we all need RAM of course.. it's not like they are struggling in the sales department.. all servers need RAM.. we don't want our system to be paging all the time.. if you went back in time during Windows 3.1 days, and told users that in the future, Microsoft recommended computers to have at least a gig of RAM and there were 200 GB hard drives and terabyte servers running, they would laugh at us, and think we are stupid.

even though space in a computer is not larger than outer space, and you can do absolutely anything on a computer, and still have enough space (unless you are a flogging leech who downloads a 10 gigs a day, then you need therapy). but i think in the future, companies will take disk storage for granted, and recommend that we have massive storage devices installed in our computers in order to run top quality apps.

now we have to wait and see if network bandwidth can match the same speed as a system bus. it can be possible.

hahahaha :stongue:

They'll probably have new ram that are faster, where you'll need less RAM sticks with equivalent speed to more RAM sticks. Kinda the idea with DRAM, DDR, Rambus.

May be going with the windows theme theyll have "Ram-ildo"

Since most users would agree that Windows needs to improve security, stability, and ease of use. I'm not sure why more ram would be necessary to achieve these goals? :conf:
