If your Internet browser is this big a deal you might want to consider getting out more.

internet browsing is my life!!

and Firefox isn't as awesome as everyone makes it out to be. It takes it longer to launch than IE, for one. But pages to "load" quicker with it. It's freezes on me more often than IE did too, but I like it's features (like FoxyTunes, for one).

and there's a handy extension for IGN for it :p

Those aren't problems with Firefox. Those are problems with your computer.

I wouldn't argue against that. My comp IS pretty old. But if IE is so , why did it run a little better? (keep in mind, I'm still using firefox cause of the features)

definitely so.

when using a 56k connection (with broadband the difference is probably un-noticable) it seems to handle the bandwidth better when downloading using the firefox download manager. it seems to keep up decent transfer rates and also makes browsing a similar speed to what it would be if you wern't downloading. if you are not browsing download speeds are a bit quicker than using the IE download "manager". using IE it grinds to a halt the moment you start downloading anything.

there are a few little niggles with firefox, like the plug-in finder that doesn't work.. but there are ways round this and the pro's definitely outweigh the cons, specifically regarding the security holes in IE.

I just started using it last week and its good. I'd recommend at least trying it out.

Forgive my stupidity, but what exactly is 'tabbed browsing'?

Instead of using different windows, you can navigate through different websites using the same window, and you have the tabs at the top so you can choose what website you want to see.

Windows are not necessarily tiled though.

Or something like that.

Cheers :D That does sound pretty convenient actually.

lol! anyone who claims IE is good clearly doesn't know . i've never used IE as my main browser. i've always thought it's like it is. i used netscape back in the day when IE wasn't even around and used it for long and am now using firefox.
microsoft seriously ed things up for many people by including IE in windows as most people are just dumb/lazy and use that. too bad for them really.
