Noise clap?

Hi,

I was wondering how to create a noise clap. By that I mean the kind of clap that has been quite common during the last few years in the trance genre. Let's start from an ordinary clap sample. What effects to add? Distortion just doesn't seem to give me the right result. Any "white noise filter" VST-effect on the market? :) :conf:

Getting tired of usual claps and muted snares...;)

1. EQ
2. Distortion (just a bit)
3. Gating!

long reeverb + gate

you mean something like this ?
Emperor
sonicstyle...you made that with only white noise (before the reverb and gate) ? or a real clap with white noise added on?
BetaFactory
Sonicstyle: exactly! It would be really appreciated if you somehow described, step-by-step, how you did. Sounds like you used a clap as base for the sound, but then?
