you just need to install the japanese font pack from Microsoft and set encoding to autoselect or Japanese Automatic Detection I think. |
Can't even seem to do that. I tried using the download from the link Lira provided but it gave me that error that it doesn't work with my version of Windows (which just happens to be the exact one that I downloaded for). |

This might be helpful :)
But as Nou said, installing the pack from Microsoft should be enough. Under "View > Character Encoding > More Encodings", don't you have Japanese? What version are you running? |

I just started learning japanese! I am trying to get this hiragana down.
It is helpful that I have a japanese girlfriend so she can assist me with it.. actually I'm really learning it so I can talk to her in japanese, and if I go to japan with her it will definately help.
It will also be usefull in my anime and other japanese show watching- hooh |

Take care not to have a "feminine" Japanese. Men and women speak in quite different ways ;) |

Followed ALL you directions and STILL can't seem to get it. Baaaaah. You see, I installed Windows SP 2 the other day and even since, I haven't been able to use my old browser (avant) so I switched over to Firefox. Avant was able to view Japanese. Firefox was not. WTFFFFFFFFF. |

I want to talk like mugen from samurai champloo, or onizuka.. you know what I mean? Like everything has this deep rolling sound to it. |

Kazuya Nakai, the voice actor for Mugen as well as Roronoa Zoro (ONE PIECE!!1), is by far one of the best seiyuu to come from Japan. |

That is the funniest thing I've ever seen in my life
i can't believe they could come up with something so amazingly simple, yet hillarious. |
