| Does anyone have any suggestions for making some middle-eastern/indian sounding music. Any certain scales and/or modes that have that sound? I'd like to have some sort of reference point, rather than just picking random notes hoping it'll sound how i want. Thx |

indian music revolves around ragas. run a google search for it because there are some tutorials about them. ragas are like scales except but are subtly different. they are ascending or descending patterns of notes but their arrangement is determined more by moods, emotions, times of day. stuff like that. chi AD which are psy, use alot of afternoon ragas in their work. you can hear it on their own remix of astral warrior.
oh yes. and the idea is not to reproduce ragas as they are. you are supposed to memorise them and then improvise around them. |
