It's not to often that somebody like myself gets a chance to attend Armin Van Buuren's radio show and at first I didn't think it would happen but much thanks to Robert Nickson for getting me on the guest list. This event was sponcered by Duracell batteries and the only way you could get in is if you won some contest from buying batteries. Pretty stupid if you ask me but whatever. Got there early to catch the whole show. Armin started the Newest Tunes Selected around 8pm and was playing to an empty crowd. He opened up with Michael Burns presents Blue Haze - Into Nothing (Bill Hamel's Last Time for 9 Vox Mix) It was awesome watching Armin play a live radio show but I was kinda worried about the empty club. The first hour was filled with some great new tunes including the Tune of the Week.....Randy Katana - FF04 and the Futured Favorite...Activa - In Essence (Matt Harwick vs Smith & Pledger mix). Armin ended the first hour with Johan Gielen - Flash.
Hour two was Armin Non Stop in the Mix for the second part of the radio show. Slowly the club started to fill up. People in Holland don't really go out untill about 10:30 - 11. I really wasn't feeling Armin's set to much but maybe it was because nobody was on the dance floor yet. But he ended the second hour with Interstate - I found U which was really nice. :toothless
Hour three was Special Guest Matthew Dekay Non Stop in the Mix. This was the first time ive seen him live and I was pretty impressed. At times his set lacked energy and kinda put me to sleep but for the most part....it was a banggin set. Half way threw his set he dropped Nikola Gala feat. Perasma - Swing 2 Harmony (Matthew Dekay Remix).....this was a sick track to hear live!!! Then he followed up with a couple really wicked tracks.....Santiago Niņo - Believe (Max Graham's Sidechain Mix) and Remy - Nasty Ho.....the crowd was going nuts!!! My favorite track of his set was Matthew Dekay vs. Beastie Boys - Intergalactic Planetary. I was upstairs when this came on and when he first q'd this in....I almost fell on my ass trying to get down the stairs to the floor.:stongue: All in all....Matthew's set was awesome and he really knows how to work a crowd. Hes a great mixer and you can tell he is having fun doing his thing.
The last three hours was Armin's set for Panama. Before he went on, I got a chance to speak with him. it was pretty cool.....he remembered me from DC and NYC when we did the NYTA pictures with him.
:toothless I think he was a bit suprized to see me in Amsterdam lol. But anyways Armin opened up with Ridgewalkers featuring El - Find (Markus Schulz Intro Edit)!!!! I knew he was going to rock it from here on out. His set started to pick up.....9 tracks in I could here him bringing in Armin vs M.I.K.E. - Pound. This track is soooo sick to hear in a club with a loud system!!!:eyespop: Then right after that he mixed in Young Parisians feat. Ben Lost - Jump The Next Train
(Kyau vs Albert Remix) This was becoming one of the sickest Armin sets I have ever heard!!! Not to mention the tracks to come.......Armin van Buuren - Communication Part 3, Sarah McLachlan - World On Fire (Junkie XL Remix), Robert Nickson - Twisted By Design (was really awesome to hear Roberts track.....to damn bad Robert had class the next morning and left before Armin Played it!!!) I about lost it when he played Automanual...still one of my favorite tracks this year. Then he dropped DK8 - Murder Was The Bass (Chris Liebling "CTTO" remix)....fist time Ive ever heard this mix and I really enjoyed it. The last hour of his set was truely amazing....SICK SICK SICK!!! Ending with Tiesto - Breda 8PM (Montana Edit)....toally giving me flash back from Tiesto in concert!!!:eyespop: :eyes: :crazy: This was by far the best I have seen Armin perform. Not only was the vibe really awesome but just the fact that it was ASOT live in Amsterdam made the whole night that much more exciting. I can't wait to go back!!!:crazy: :crazy: :crazy:

I hope they do Armada night somewhere for WMC. And you better find a place closer to Miami dude.....FSU is about a 9 hour drive to Miami.;) |
