I've been getting pretty bored with trance recently. I used to love it soo much but now every stream I listen to on the net or any cd I get bores me very quickly. I've been trying to branch out into other genres but haven't found one I like just yet. I think I might get back into house.

I say being into the least-evolving dance music there is. Full of scruffy drugheads that love thinking they are "underground" because their parties are mainly in third world countries.

Trance could have a future If there was more experimentation with the core, not with the breakdown

totally agree....but eventually it will
Light The Fuse
prediction - it'll split into something more techy and something more proggy and then it'll almost disappear from clubs/events and then in about 4 years it'll all come back again.

It'll probably not get better for a while yet. That's until people stop kissing the ass of the boring released nowadays, and buying / leeching every single ty track there is. Then it'll take another while for producers to start realizing what they've done to the music, and to start off again with something refreshing and innovative.

I reckon this is pretty much bang on. Musical genres tend to wax and wane in popularity and the dance music scene is no exception. As far as trance is concerned, I can only comment on the records I see (and buy) in the shops but right now trance seems to be heading in a very techy direction. It'll probably remain that way for a while before the sound becomes tired and some other sort of influence takes over. ;)

Longer-term, production standards will continue to rise so what is sounding fantastic now will probably sound so-so in four years time (a bit like a lot of 1999 trance sounds these days, IMHO). I think (hope!) we'll hear more and more tracks that are genuinely jaw-dropping and will probably a move away from the very generic feel that a lot of trance seems to have at the moment.

Predicting the future is always difficult but just my 2p worth, mind. :D

theres plenty of good decent and different trance out there (althugh not as muc has i would like). people are just too stuck on their prog and anthems to care about it.

not really. their is a big psy scene in the UK full of great parteis, it seems one of the last places where peopel arnt stuck o nthe plastic image of a super star DJ playing "big" tunes. u'll usually find theres a lot more than psy their too, plenty of other decent trance hybrids.
