just layer multiple bass sounds, get a nice tone with a saw sound or something, make that one track, it doesn't have to have any bass sound to it, it just has to "sound like a bass sound" you can even eq all the low end off of it if you want so it doesn't interfere with your bass line.
then take a sine wave...turn the res about half way up and then bring the cutoff down slowly till you get a nice deep bass sound.
layer together with other sound...presto you have bass....
of course tweak these till they sound how you want, toy with filter envelopes ect ect.....
Layer, layer, layer, layer, layer, layer, thats how to make good sounds in my opinion...

Something with unison on it will work. I work with a lot of bass leads which can often fill up the entire frequency range... nothing but kick and percussion (maybe a little bassline) and a basslead which just kills, but I make acid techno so its difference.
I find the key to getting huge basslines is modulation from various sources and using more than one voice. I tend to use about 5 for a good deep sound and then the right amount of detune.
I often find a combination of saw and square works quite well to give a good deep sound, some ring modulation, unison, maybe some PWM, but my synth has a sub-oscillator which I guess is kinda cheating. |
