anyone know how the myth of prometheus can be related to the internet
im having some trouble with this fawkin essay topic, i already figured out how icarus and pandora relate... but im having trouble seeing the connection between prometheus.... anyone??? |

| This may be a stretch but you could possibly relate Prometheus to someone like Steve Case (Founder of AOL) or the guy who started the internet service known as Prodigy. Though the internet existed long before, it was avaliable to a select group of individuals (military and university personel?) until these men came along and made popular access to the internet possible. Im not sure if these are the figureheads you would want to relate to Prometheus, but something along this vein may be a good place to start... |

well prometheus gave man fire, in a sense access to information previously unavailable(search engines?).
Chained to a rock, Tormented by Zeus eagle eating his liver, only to be freed by Heracles. Ive got nothing relating this. |

Hmm, maybe if you talk about Bill Gates and Microsoft, you can make some interesting allusion to this part of the myth. Rather than being chained to a rock, Gates was punished via anti-trust litigation. Rather than torment via the daily consumption of his liver, Gates was required to pay a hefty fine & give up control of his corporation. Freed by Heracles...Im not sure who gates' lawyer was, but he was able to sufficiently argue the case in court to allow Microsoft to remain intact and not be broken up, ala Ma Bell....
Its a stretch, I know, but hey its late...

| i did an analysis of symbolism on the Inferno for OAC English a few years back.. not something I'd like to remember. :wtf: |

I think it was just a cartoon short shown on Nickelodeon, during the late 80s, early 90s. Im not sure I remember the title, but the alien was always trying to give the caveman technology, which he always used to up the alien somehow. Also, he sometimes would do , like while the alien was setting up a demonstration or something of the like, the caveman would start ing with the aliens ship and blow it up, or make it roll down a hill into a lake or some .
Always made me chuckle as a youngster... |
