Remembrance Day!

If you see a vet from WWII or Korean War, tell them thanks. We tend to take our freedom from those wars for granted and don't start pathetic diatribes about Dubya, I'll have your posts removed. We fail to remember that many people died for our freedom and you should remember that on November 11th.

I'm not going to turn this into a political thread as I reckon this must be something respectful to you but, I guess it would be far better to avoid similar situations and just let it go instead of thanking and remembering the past wars.

The more we remember, the less we forgive.

your not remembering the wars....your remembering those who fought in them. Really disrepectful to forget about all those who lost their lives, and to those who lived and lost their best of friends.

Forgetting wars doesnt make them not happen again...
If anything remembering all the lives that wars took would prevent them from happening again.
Besides, like boomer said, its not about the wars, its about the people who fought, and died in wars, whether they were fighting by choice or not.

actually I know I'm one of the few that encourages debates but seriously this is a thread remembering the people who died for our freedom in WWII.

It's disrespectful indeed not to remember the dead but... well, never mind, this seems to be something important to you guys and I don't think this is the right time for a debate on this :)

I love how people instantly try to turn a meaningful statement into something twisted so as to throw out their pathetic little viewpoints on life.

Why dont you people try to use some of those critical thinking skills they made you practice in school and spend a second remembering why exactly you are speaking English and not German.

This reminds me of the closing scene in Saving Private Ryan. One of the few movies that will jerk a tear from my eye. When he's at the gravestone asking his wife to tell him that he's lived a good life. The contemplation of the sacrifices the men that died for his life had made. Truly touching. We should all realize the magnitude of people who died fighting for the freedom's we, all too often, take for granted.

i would like to say thanks to the people who fought in WWI, WWII, and Korean War .. well mostly WWI, because that was the stepping stone that turned the whole world around to a whole global confrontation and the emergence of NATO (or was that WWII), however did shift the balance of powers to the United States.

without the world wars, we would not have doomsday (june 6) and the attack on pearl harbor (december 7) .. thank the u.s. troops for stopping the japanese in the pacific .. and the russian troops for stopping the german troops at the border .. and the american troops that landed in france and fought the axis at the trenches .. thanks to the troops for stopping the evil powers of germany and japan and italy..

In addition, I think the French should stop whining about our politics and remember the fact that they would be speaking German if not for US support in WWI.

Hold it, Walker:

  • This is not the right time to debate. As a sign of respect, I'm going to delete my first posts which may be considered a 'critic'. I warmly ask the people who quoted me to delete their posts as well, in order to avoid any misunderstanding or disrespectful debate.

  • Since I was the only one to say a 'critic' before your post, I can only assume the "pathetic little viewpoints on life" was directed to me. No matter how much I disagree with your viewpoints of life (and most times, I do), I have enough maturity to respect your decisions and let you live by them. Have you seen me calling your attitude "pathetic" or "little" no matter how much I disagreed with you? Everyone's got a different background, I can't judge your behaviour based on mine. That being said, I can only expect the same attitude from you. If you're not able to deal with a reality different then yours, well, there's no use for debates, is there?
