So Way Out West is just supposed to have the same sound all the time? And they're supposed to appease you? At any rate, it's not like they were trying to not have Don't Look Now sound like it does. If you listen to Jody Wisternoff's WMC set from this year, there's a short interview where he talks about the album and says they were actually going for a bit of a more pop-ish sound with some of the new tracks.

If nothing else though, I totally disagree with the statement that the new tracks "half-arsed vocal breaky tracks". Killa's not even a breaks track, and Apollo is about as mint of a breaky track as you can find. I'll admit that Anything But You is kinda |:, but Melt is a really nice tune, as is Everyday. Most of the other tunes on the album are at least decent.

That Way Out West are making some downtempo tracks shouldn't really be a surprise to anyone who's really listened to some of their sets. Just listen to Nick Warren's Back To Mine album or the recent Way Out West BBC6 6 Mix and you'll discover they were influenced by and listen to a lot of downtempo tunes.

Note: what exactly about their current music makes Nick & Jody "gay"? :conf: :conf: :conf:

their new album is crap. Theyve been crap for a while. Yes they were good once, and yes Nick Warren is still a good dj. But Way Out West 'live' is really now. Mindcircus must have been a succesful track for them, because theyve now come out with an album where every track is a clone of that. Its a shame because thats not the sound that they were known for.

I don't agree on this. The tracks are not clones. In fact they are less clones than in so many others well known producers albums.

And what do you mean by sound they were known for? They have to make new music with the sound they were known for only?

no they arent supposed to appease me, but by their own admission they are now trying to please as many people as possible. Theyve sold out, if it was a 'trancier' style of music then youd have TTA banging on about how they have 'sold out' and they have.

They used to have a sound, and it was varied and it was unique. Now they have a sound thats been run into the ground. Its all VERY average, and its easy listening pop. Going from something unique to that is not a step forward in any way.

I dont know why youve picked up on me being surprised at the 'downtempo' factor?? surely the stuff theyve done in the past was a lot more downtempo than most of the things on this new album :haha:

lol heh VERY average pop...you sound like the typ brit that would describe a Honda as boringly reliable...

you are a strange character tho - a PVD whore in hiding/training. WoW certainly mustve sold out since Nick decided to 'retire' as a solo dj and devote more time to other things. ive seen west twice in the past year and once they were remarkable and recently terrible tho I blame the sound engineer primarily. (there is only so loud a live mic can be turned up for singing)

for someone who seems to only know anything about PvD you sure do have opinions of people you know nothing about|

what are you on about?

I was at the same show with Biz here in Denver and it was terrible. As he said though, the sound engineers were primarily responsible for that. I was disappointed that they didn't do any free flowing track to track at all. Just stopped for around ten seconds between tracks. They had a couple of tracks that I thought sounded great, but the overall performance was substandard.

Intensify is a fantastic album though and some of their old stuff is great as well. Their mix of "For an Angel" is nothing special. I'll take the original anyday.
