Watermarking Digital Photographs

I've decided that I want to watermark alot of my photo's that i'm putting on the net, to stop people stealing and using them.
So does anybody know of a good application (preferably free) that can add a semi-transparent image on top of my existing photo's. I could of course add the watermarks individually, but i have large batches to do.
Does anybody else watermark images and stuff? what do you find the best way to mark a large batch at once?
-Nell
EDIT: I see there are plenty of watermarking apps availible to BUY on the net, but im really looking for a no-cost solution. |

For single images you could just fade layers on photoshop, but since you have a lot of them to do I really can't help.
BTW the first image you have to watermark is the Bitter Twisted Christian Virgin Alliance one :stongue: |

here is what i got from the net
The Internet has revolutionized business and created a new world order that until now has not existed before, but as with any revolution come new risks and new hurdles. As more and more specialized businesses finds their way to the Internet, there is more of a need than ever before to protect what's yours.
The first reality is recognizing that nothing is impenetrable; it is therefore no longer enough to deploy minor security efforts and hope for the best. It takes a concerted effort, highly trained experts, continuous software development and sophisticated technology to stay ahead of today's software vulnerabilities, malicious insiders, and increasingly sophisticated users and hackers.
So Here's The Reality!
Did you know that anyone can copy anything off your website with the click of a mouse? That's right! All that work and time, not to mention money, and anyone can steal it in an instant!
Are you doing business on the Internet? Are you an artisan... craftsperson, sculpter, potter, artist, photographer or painter? Do you own a museum, painting, pottery or photo gallery and wish to display your works or consignments as they were meant to be seen...in full-view and high-resolution? Do you have sensitive content, documents, or images? Do you have proprietary or copyrighted information, or are you just flat tired of people stealing your stuff? If the answer to any of these questions is YES, then you need to protect what's yours with INVISITEC.
Invisitec specializes in applications and solutions software that help you to...
» Protect your random images!

The best would be to have a flash site using only thumbmnails...so even print screen wouldnt get you anything, and then have it so you have to scroll around to view a large image...

| use low resolution images and write your web address at the bottom its called free advertising which is a good thing. since ur just starting out no one knows ur website exists so i dont think u will have a big problem with ppl stealing ur images :stongue: btw if you cant afford to buy a dirt cheap image editor i think something is wrong with ur business model |

why would you post high resolution images? If its true, you could sue them for a lot money. its not that hard to prove they're your images if you have the original. digital pics have "finger print" that cant be hidden. |
