Regarding the news VIRUS IT it's only a question of time until Clavia, Akai and other manufacturers will build a similar technology to integrate their instruments into VST. Let's wait another six months and I am sure you'll find the Nord Lead 4 integrating into your favourite VST host.
Imagine a studio where every new synth, sampler, fx unit has an vst integration and auto routing of signal processing.
What do you think will change in the future concerning the production of trance ?

not a doubt in my mind!
many people have gone completely software now, with 100,000 dollar studios, remaining powered off while work actually gets done!
software is the future, hardware manufactures have to evolve as well |
