Hi there,
A small tip for starting out before you sit down and start to write your first track is to spend some time listening to the type of music you want to make.
Listen to a dance CD until you are sick of it and know it backwards becuase this will teach you structure and also when things change in a track. It will also teach you when to build and add more into a track to maintain interest.
A little tip if not covered a thousand times is start a track and load up your fav seq. Listen to the track and make markers in your seq to notify change in the track (i.e when to bring in the bass, when to build, etc). Once you have all your markers you will think to yourself, "Right I have to do that in that 8 bar loop and that in that 4 bar loop, etc).
This is only a begineers way at looking at how to arrange at track and get a feel of working in 4,8,16 bar loops. However, this is own preference.
Happy music making,
