"The Power of Nightmares" from acclaimed documentary maker Adam Curtis, tells the story of the Political Islamists and the American Neoconservatives, the ideas that inspired them and how their paths crossed as they rose to power. It explores how the two forces have used both terror and deception to create an increasingly fractured world, in which populations wait in fear of the next mass terror attack.
(BBC, 2004)

Just saw this BBC's new documentary series and it's pretty amazing, one of the best documentaries I've ever seen actually. It was recently aired in the UK but there are currenly no plans to show it in the USA. Unfortunately there's only the first part available for download but I'm sure that you'll will find a way to get the other parts too if you got interested ;)

download part I:Baby it's cold outside (low-res AVI-format):

part 1_1

part 1_2

part 1_3

You can watch all the parts here but they are really crappy real-player format.

Far left propaganda again or the truth? Well watch and decide yourself ;)

Leo Strauss believes that Western liberalism leads to nihilism? What's more interesting is that several people in our current administration embrace the Straussian philosophy.

An enlightening video.

Basically, it translates to both sides employing the "ends justify the means" ideology.

God help us all!!! (and whichever God that you may or may not personally subscribe to being irrelevant ~ we need all the help we can get right now!)

Hey breakaholic nice post. Do you have by chance parts two and three?

it is sad to notice that what these radicals are doing, is in the end just what Plato was attemting to do two thousand years ago. Arresting change, and the set up of a tribal like society.

I recommend The Open Society and its Enemies by Karl Popper to anyone who is interested in a bigger argumentation of my previous comment, which is but an extreme resume of the first part of the book.

I did a search for torrent files. Looks like all 3 parts are here.

I'm posting this because I actually believe this documentary is worth watching

Btw. The Power of nightmares has won the best documentary series award at the British Academy Televison Awards and will be screened in Cannes this year as well ! Good to see it's finally getting some wider media recognition.

Cannes to screen BBC's nightmares

Don't mind our resident village idiots, as they abound on TA just as they do in most internet forums.

Anyhow, someone has to supply the fodder for the dull, inattentive and heedless masses, don't they? That's where our village idiots come in to lend that helping hand.

We try to cater to everyone in our discussions. ;)
