How-To create that badass sub-bass drop!?

This thread was up a week ago but dissapeared the same day because of an harddrive crash on the server running this site so I'll post the same question again, I never had the chance to read any replies!

I was wondering how to create a "drop". Here's an example of what I mean and this part is taken from the beginning of the song "Dave Joy - Third Pleasure (DJ D-Light Remix)";

http://www.martinandersson.com/da_drop.mp3

I always thought that this is made from bending down the pitch of a simple bass.. maybe even automate the panning from left to right or right to left? But no matter what I try to do I can't get anything to sound near this. I've tried what I meantioned and also automating a boost of the lower frequencies but nothing helps.

I'm using Reason 2.5 by the way. Anyone got an idea!? Please help a trance brother out!!!

PLEASE TELL ME MORE FELLOWS!! I'm learning everyday! How can I get that 808 kick into Reason? And my experience tell me that if I try to resample a kickdrum for a longer time (thus creating a slow motion effect) for instance in WaveLabe the quality of the sound really suck. So how can a d00d possibly make a kick drum go in slow motion?

Limit
well to make a kick go in slow motion(which the effect you want isn't using this) you can use a time stretch tool...I think wavelab has it. The best quality time strestching you can get is by using Prosoniq Timefactory(a stand alone app) or you can use cubase SX 2.o which has the mpex algorithem, which is the prosoniq proprietary time strech used in timefactory. But what you really need is the 808 kick..and guess what? I have a Drumstation, and I can make that kick in about 2 seconds for you. send an e-mail to [email protected] with subject 808 kick and I'll e-mail you the kick you want. I wont compress it or anything so you can use it to your own descresion for other tracks.

Limit out!
