Vinyl Vs. Cd? I know its probs been done before, please help

Hi,

I'm on the lookout for some decks, but I am stuck between getting vinyls or cd's
I have around £300 to spend and for that I could get some Stanton Str8-30s and stanton mixer or Numark 1650s with a numark mixer. Basically some intermediate direct drive decks.
I could also get a set of beginner CD decks like Staton on Gemini.

I like using vinyl (as thats what I had before). I already have about 30 tunes on vinyl and I like to "feel" what I'm mixing.
I have around 1600 songs for CDs, trance, hard trance etc and some "pop" songs so I could do parties with the decks.

Should I risk buying beginner CD's and not liking them or stick with the trusty vinyl decks?

Any help would be great.
Thanks
Chris

You really aren't in a good spot either way. But if all I had was 300 bux to spend, I wouldn't dare spend it on on Str8-30's... :nervous:

Go for the CD's this time man... if you have that little amount to spend, then you won't be buying much vinyl either which defeats the purpose of having turntables.

Go for the CD's. There not that hard to get use to. and you won't hate them. Won't feel the same, but you prolly won't hate them.

when money is no object i would usually say its better to learn on turntables. but when concerning budget players, i always think cheap cd decks are better than cheap turntables (but twice as expensive). remember though, burning your own CD's (unless they are rips of your own vinyl) is very illegal and frowned upon if you end up playing in clubs.

but yeah, please look through the sticky thread at the top of this forum, cryptically named "vinyl vs cds".

Vinyl vs Cd will probably never be won, its all personal pref

IMO, youve alredy got 30 vinyl, might as well buy something you can play em with

cds can be played all over, vinyl is restricted to the TT which you dont have... you can always play CDs on ur comp and have the comp running through the line in on your mixer untill you buy cd decks
