Boring

I've noticed DJing is getting pretty boring for me now. I am 14 and do not have money for high end equipment and I can't dj at most places. I am forced to use Traktor and my crappy gemimi decks and the djx700. Traktor I know from the backside of my hand and can do a mix without ever trainwrecking anymore. The turntables and stuff, you can barley mix on, and the mixer is starting to turn to .

I have also ruined my reputation around here and the Trance DJ/Producing world.

I will probably quit soon unless somehow I enter a contest and win some nice technics & a good mixer or something :(

Interesting.. Unforetuneatly I don't really know what to say.. If its getting boring start trying some new stuff.. find records that have accapella's, or breakbeats, and try and incorporate that into your sets. You Gemini decks can't be that bad, the original decks I learned how to spin on where the XL500's that at the time were starting to fluctuate the pitch.. but I still learned, not to mention the mixer I used didn't even have ing EQ's mate... faders and gain knobs..

Just keep your head up, look for new records, try and come up with some ideas to use while spinning... You may not have amazing equipment, but you can still try to come up with something unique..

Keep working at it. :)

PS: I guess I did come up with something to say... :tongue2

yo i started at 15 and knew traktor on the back of my palm and at 16 i got decks. i got xl 500s and a pxm 06 wich was pretty ghetto and eq-less. it was lik a whole new begining. im saying like because i knew how to mix tracks. like phrase match. but beat matching was a different storty
i sold the mixer, got something with eqs and kept on spinnin. here i am, almost 2 yrs later and i still have the xl500s and i love em to death

try something new man. incorporate some techno in ur sets, be creative. and who ever sed u cant dj out?
u go to school? spk to ur school bout dances, house parties. if u believe, by 16-17 ull be in the clubs. u just need practice and confidence

Schools don't like people playing EDM...just a bunch of pop junk that everyone likes here.

I have 2 XL-DD50 II's and I think they are pretty damn good, but I can't afford vinyl. At Almost $20 per record (thats including shipping) I just cant afford it

Get a job... :tongue2

just buy one or two a week... something new... just to be fresh...

Well...know how hard it is to get a job at age 14? :(

I don't even think mcdonalds hires before 16

I hate to say it, but maybe just put DJin to the side right now.. save money and start it up again when you are able to afford it.. you seem really negative about it right now... and that doesn't help when people are trying to give you advise..

if you dont like djing anymore, quit. if you're just frustrated because of your lack of money then figure out a way to get some and keep using the gear that you have. make mix cds with tracktor or what ever stuff you have. your only 14, give it some time. its taken me years to get all of the equipment and few mixing skills that i have. its suposed to be fun, if your not having fun maybe you should chill out with it and pick it back up when you get older.

btw, how have you ruined your reputation as a dj/ producer?

Ey chin up! work with wat you got for now, get a job n earn some cash. I saw some guy who was workin with decks plus mixers stacked on shelfs and one tt had knobs for pitch instead of a fader. Same as mine! But just keep at it

hmmm. you need to work out if it is something you really want to carry on doing. there is no point in throwing money at record shops if you don't want to do it. obviously, you are young and have a long way to go in the world, and DJing is a very expensive hobby. if you are using traktor, why not for the time being just buy digital downloads, they are a load cheaper. its what i do if i am skint and can't afford records that week.

if you decide it is something you want to stick at, is it worth asking your parents for some kit for birthdays/christmas? it is expensive stuff tho so you may have to get it all one bit at a time!

don't be lured in by the technics babble. shop around, there are cheaper/better decks about ;)
