Roland Jupiter synths for trance?

Hi!

Do anyone of you use a Jupiter 4, 6 or 8 to make trance this days?

Wich one of them is best for trance? I have heard the Jupiter 6 is the most recommended but I don't know, I have never played them myself.

Is there a vsti that can come close to any of these synths?

Best regards,

get over it man... Its how you use your gear. Not what you use... They all are fine for making all music...

not a chance

well... I beg to differ.

First, I own jupiter 6/8 - both are completely different beasts. Jupe 8 is awesome for basses, weird noises, pads, and screaming leads. Although, keep in mind that it is not what I would call a primary soundmaker in a track. Also, I have to run it through TC Fireworx to get the FX. Jupe 6 is great for special fx, bleeps, screaming leads, etc. Each has its place in the spectrum. Jupe 8 bass is a monster, jupe 6 pads are lush.

If you want something close, I'd recommend the same thing that Etherium recommended to me when I got infected with Analog bug - get Atmosphere. Also, Roland makes a plug in for VariOS which is supposed to be somewhat like Jupiter 8 (keep in mind, it isn't tho GUI looks like Jupe 8).

I have to tell you - the Jupe (and any old analog) is for enthuziasts only. You really have to look for that "analog" sound in order to justify spending that kind of loot on the synth. For the same money, you can get 1 access virus and have another $1,500 left to play with. I'd advise against buyin a Jupiter synth, unless you really really really have to. I'm planning to sell mine very soon, as I don't see the value in it.

Also, with the onset of VSTi's, it's even harder to justify such an expense, unless you're very nastalgic for playing the "Tron" theme.

Did you check out Arturia Moog VSTi??? It is UNBELIEVABLE! and cheap! You should definitely give it a try - it is amazing.

Good luck and think long and hard before spending this kind of cash for old analog synth. If you must get analog, go with Andromeda - better value for the money.
