Does Anyone here use Pro Tools?

I have recently heard of Pro Tools from a Record Label which asked if i had any knowledge of how this program worked. So i googled it.

I found a site giving a free version for it...

http://www.digidesign.com/ptfree/

Although im working with Windows 2000 it isnt able to install. So i had to resort to borrowing an auth code (for the reason that i dont buy anything unless im confident in the product).

Running the set-up app works jus fine...and download process is successful. Once i run the prog up...this error occurs...it stops at the function DAE Loading...it then pops up an alert saying i dont have the hardware needed to run it.

Now do i really need to buy hardware for it to work?

If so why would they give a free version for Win 98/Me and not Windows 2000?

Anyone who knows plz send me a pm or a detailed reply plz...Ty very much in advance

they probably give the free version to only windows 98 because they know that most people have XP, that's including people who try to get cracked versions, like you.

if you really want to use it, just buy a MBox and be legit.

i am a legit user of software

But i hate with a Fackin passion the bull u have to go through to get ur money back when u buy something that u thaught was good which ended up being ...ya kno?

If there are no replys givin me the info i need to fix this prob...i think i'll jus use win 98 as an alternate.

ProTools is well worth the cash once you got it learned.

Every penny you spend on getting the hybrid hardware that it runs with is best spent.

ProTools Free is for Win98 users ONLY, in those small cases where you need to edit a PTS file quickly, without all the new version perks.

You can grab a MBox to run it on any decent win2k/winxp system for about $450 - $500 USD

there's no way to fix it to work in win2k that I know of. I run a double-boot computer with Win98 and WinXP in case I need to run a quick copy of the ProTools Free.
