I think it is not about finding THE best city, because you just got too many good places all over Europe - So I would consider going for a central, comfortable and affordable location, from where you can go and see the rest of europe. Berlin is quite good for that.

Rome is beautiful, but very loud, hectic and overrun by tourists most of the time. More a place to go for a while and do site-seeing, than trying to live there. Quite expensive, since the Euro came into place there, too.

Yes, and thats the difference between Hamburg and Berlin... Berlin is an international Place, a big city. Hamburg has half of the population of Berlin but its (depends on its habour) as big from the surface (?) as Berlin. I really like Hamburg and not only because I was born there... I don't know why but Hamburg is different to so much cities...

If you would like to live in a big german city you should move to Berlin...

What about Prague?

Mmm... I havent finished my study and I wont have for a while, so I kinda have to go to a country where I can work.. I can get work teaching english in most countries, but the lady said eastern european countries pay the best and are the cheapest to live in... so It's either Prague, mainly because it is close to London also.. or Berlin... I dont know where else Id like to go... Im german born italian-australian... hence why I said roma or milan, as i can speak italian also.

AHH it suxs

youve been helpful tho

Barcelona :) Spanish women can be mighty fine. Lots of nice art too.

If you are considering Germany, i would say Berlin/ Frankfurt.

as you pointed out, Berlin is good when it comes to Music. I read an article recently (can't find it right now, sorry) about the exodus of music talent from New York given the current political climate in the US and the resulting influx into Berlin.

And no other than Richie Hawtin moved there a bit over a yeah ago. Read what he has to say about Berlin -->here<--

Ok, I have a little more time now, I would certainly recommend to move to Berlin. It is a great city, since it has an incredibly divers population. Each part of the city has its own character, which I think is really neat, since you can go to the part which you 'feel' like the more.

The disadvantage is that Berlin is pretty friggin huge. I mean, the city is extemely big -imho- and it takes ages to go from some places to others.

Berlin has a bunch of nice parks, both larger and smaller ones. Public transportation is great too.

What Berlin is really lacking is a Skyline. There just aren't many skyscrapers in the city. I think that the Funkturm is one of the tallest buildings in the city.

I agree with drizzt. In addition, Berlin is the closest thing to a 24-hour-city you'll get in Germany.

As for skyscapers, there aren't any actually. Maybe some modest highrises, but not worthy of the label "skyscraper". But then again, Frankfurt is the ONLY city in all of Europe (!) to have a skyline. Skyscrapers just aren't popular around these parts I guess...
