Anyone have Satellite Radio?

XM came standard with 3 months free in my car. I like it so much I have already extended it.

Before XM my options were my single disk changer and FM. I bought my Ipod and Itrip which helped.

Then came XM.

EDM Channels
Channel 80 - More down-tempo, housy then the others. I probably listen to this station the least.

Channel 81 (BPM) - More progressive/trance with some more popular EDM tracks.

Channel 82 - More uptempo banging Trance.

I think I just love the fact that on my radio I can change the channel and hear System F, Van Dyk, Sasha, even some essential mixes.

First week I had it I turned on 82 and heard Vic Dinaire - Future Progression.

I am really loving the fact that I can actually hear some NEW trance. The suprise factor is great. My Ipod is great for music I already have, but there is no suprise. Sure sometimes there isn't anything on that I like, but the option is there, which it wasn't whn all I had was FM.

Anyone else here have XM?

What about Serius? Do they have similar channels?

The only thing I dont like about satellite is sound quality. Its better then MP3s, maybe on par with FM, but not as good as CD quality.

I've had XM for about 6 months. My favorite channel is 44 ; Fred. This channel is awesome. Its like alternative 80's music ( i.e. The Smiths, new order,U2 etc.) They play the best music 24/7. I can listen to this channel all day. The dance channels are cool. I like to explore and listen to all the different channels on XM though. Since I DJ and listen to EDM all the time I try to listen to other stuff to expand my mind. Sometimes I listen to Nigoma (which is the African music channel) or sometimes I listen to the opera channel; it depends on my mood.

I think it a great service that provides quality music at an affordable price. If you like to listen to the radio you will love this. No commercials, no playlists, and hundreds of different stations specializing in one form of music.

Actually, 44 is one of my favorites as well. I grew up on DM, Cure, Pixies, Love & Rockets, OMD, Morrisey, etc.... I only mentioned 80-82 because of where I am posting this.

You have it at home or in the car? Or do you have the Roady with the car kit?

I have it at home. I didn’t buy the Roady with the car kit.

I love 80's music and this channel is like a gift from God.:D They play alot of retro stuff you would never hear on a normal radio station. The DM and New Order stuff on the station is the quality too. It isn’t those over played songs everyone is familiar with.

I've really been looking for something like this, but I gave up and bought an iPod with an iTrip transmitter.

What sort of setup costs would be involved for an XM Radio setup? How much per month?

I think its like $10.00 a month. The radio cost about $60.00.

You may want to check if they sell XM in Canada. I thought I read that they don't but I could be wrong. From what I remember, people were going to the States to get it and then using it in Canada though.

You can get a Roady for about $99.

My car came with it free for 3 months, then it was supposed to be $10/month, but I got some coupon code from my car dealership that brings it down to $60/1 year.

I added Opie and Anthony for $2.

Future Progression is my show on The System 82

its on Saturdays from 6-10pm Eastern and Tuesdays from 8pm-midnight. I am hearing that XM is airing it more than 2 x a week as well but I dont have the times for the new slots.

Its a 4 hour show, I mix 2 hours and then I have 2 guests

This weekend we have Marcos Euphonic and Adam Sheridan.

The following weekend we have DJ Danjo & Rob Styles and Matt Darey, both artists are now bi-monthly residents.

Next month we already have Blank & Jones, John 00 Fleming, Noel Sanger, Filo & Peri (start of Bi Monthly), Niklas Harding, Airwave and another major DJ which I cant list right now.

I love your show dude. Its the only show I make a habit to listen to weekly on XM.

Keep up the good work.

My mom's car has XM in it, and actually my mom likes 81: BPM :).. 80 and 81 are my two favorites, but 82 has some good stuff also.

I plan on buying the radio and put it next to my PC so I can listen at home :) Some great livesets they play on there!

Satellite Radio is a cool idea, But there arent that many channels for the style of music you want, I mean, Satellite Radio doesnt have channels for progressive house and all that other stuff, I'll just stick to internet radio, As I can always find what I want to listen to specifically, And not something that plays all forms of music at once. :)
