Hehe, said it before I could.

Also, no I haven't gotten a chance to play with FS2, so you're right I really don't know for sure. However, there are a few users who have gotten to demo FS2 from the SSL forum who have said that FS2 is an improvement over FS1, but SSL is still superior. Of course, their opinion could be bias so I guess only time will tell for sure. But, I'll still take SSL with free patches over paying 30 dollars+ everytime FS decides to push an update...

out of curiosity, is Serato Scratch Live 24-bit like FS2?

I don't think so, the owners manual says "CODEC: 16-bit / 44.1 kHz sample rate"

The argument against 24-bit may be that it is overkill since you are just playing mp3s anyway.

Does anyone know of a review by someone who has used both?
(Besides SSL users who are convinced they made the correct choice)

Personally, I am getting really fed up with the Staton/NI upgrade and support BS. However I am still entertaining the idea of FS 2 because it should make migrating my current song library really easy and with the rebate it costs me just as much as SSL (if I still hate FS2 I can still sell itand buy SSL, it is going to be pretty tough to try and sell FS 1 for very much).

I'm using FS1 and haven't had to face any problem with it that is ofcourse after i abide by their rules. Whats the rebate everyone is talking about? How much is FS2 going for anyway?

FS 2.0 is $600 USD. If you send in (to Stanton at your cost) a FS (version 1) ScratchAmp or SSL interface (don't know what they call their hardware) with a proof of purchase (for FS2) dated before February 2005 you get a $200 rebate along with a full version of Traktor 2.6 (which is compatible with FS2).

Edit: Here is the rebate form http://www.platinum-records.com/Dow...s2_trade_in.pdf

I have the new SSL vinyls and I haven't noticed any problems at all with them. Then again I never had a first gen set but I'm sure I would have noticed.

I just got SSL a week ago and I have to say that it just works. So far is has been flawless. Only time will tell...

Well, in this case i think i'll just use my FS as it is.. i'm using 1.3 version that came with the utnit when i bought it and run it on Linux...Basic stuff is best for me...Mo money mo problem!
