Getting like this every winter is not just in my head. I am getting plenty of sleep and it does no good at all. Even my friends see that there is a pattern with me getting like this.
:o |
I hear you.
Jay, what makes it worse in certain people is the amount of stress they are dealing with. That is how it is for me, anyways. Stress aggrevates it tremendously. Various stress reduction activities ease the symptoms, but they do not go away.
This year I am going to try skiing or snowboarding or taking up a new indoor hobby that will hopefully bring some more enjoyment to an otherwise MISERABLE season. |

Well I do have a tendency to feel sad when it is raining or when it's cold & snowy outside. I blame it on the weather at times. But not all the time...
I have a girlfriend that gets REALLY Depressed {Diagnosed} when winter comes - and she has to work from home b/c of her condition/illness. BUT something bad Always happens to her every summer since I have known her too! Last summer, her mother died, the summer before that her father died! All these reasons makes me wonder why she isn't depressed all year round, {buts maybe she is :(} ... it is more about this seasonal thing.
I am depressed half the time - everyday....
:(
we're depressed, stressed and SAD sucks :(

Bah, anybody can pull that card. Just because you've got a problem doesn't mean it's a medical one that you can't solve yourself - and I can think of numerous probable causes for the specific one in question. |

| I don't say I have a medical problem, but I definately oversleep a lot and feel tired all time in the winter. |

I read up about SAD.
Apparently it is a RARE condition that occurs in the ARCTIC when they go for months without any daylight. The fact that we are taking it on for ourselves is just a fashion fad if you ask me.
All the symptoms are clinical depression. If you are depressed you will use any excuse to latch it to. Lets call depression for what it is and leave this "SAD" business to the rare inuit that get it. |

| I know my appetite during the winter is very high. But I don't feel any sort of depression or extra lethargy. Mostly it's the cold floor and cold air that keeps me from getting up from my warm bed! |
