Here's the most popular dutchmen:
dj tiesto
ferry corsten
armin van buuren
sven maes
sven vath
timo maas
johan gielen (sort of)
marc van linden (I think so, im not sure)
BUT look who's NOT dutch: paul van dyk, paul oakenfold, judge jules, sasha, digweed, oliver lieb, picotto, piu, dj quicksilver, sash!, lost witness, art of trance, resistance d, basement jaxx, mario de bellis, nicholas bennison... the list goes on.
Dutch dj's are great, but only in their own specific 'epic trance' genre.. i think the rest of the world more than balances out the dutch juggernaut.

| AHH i cant believe some of you guys dont think that Ferry Corsten is a dj & a producer, a great example for his Dj work would be Trance Nation 1,Trance Nation 2, Trance Nation 3 and 4 from Ministry of Sound's releases. Ferry is amazing, he also produces all of my favorite music. His other Aliases are Gouryella (with Tiesto), System F and a bunch of others! Hes also hella good at making RE-Mixes. |

Hello again.
Ok about the Tiesto stuff, I made a mistake, Rank 1 is no Tiesto stuff, Kamaya Painters is the name of the combination Tiesto / Benno de Goeij.
Well the one who said that some of the dj's I called where Gabber/hardcore DJ's before, I was in the hardcore scene for a while ( big mistake!!! :-) ) and didn't saw any names of thoss dj's printed on the flyers.
Their are dj's like Dano and more who get into the trance feeling to but how far I know none of this dj's played in the Hardcore scene.
Well the guy with the English, German and Italian DJ's
Have to agree, those dj's rock to.
I think every country have their own style of trance music.
Still like the dutch more.
Their is one thing to say, a DJ isn't only the guy that play the good 'tracks', you have to fix them........
Sven vath isn't Dutch..........and that suck, cause he was the best at Innercity 2000!!!!!!!!!!!!
Soon in de Klaveet MARCO V.!!!!!!!!! I'll be their, cause I work in that club:-) see yooo! |
|

| Gekhous |
& where may de klaveet be??
best at IC was Speedy J or PvD, Vath is to repeating for me... |

What's all this about Epic trance?? We Dutchies might produce a lot of it, but guys like Armin, Tiesto and Marco V do NOT spin Epic trance!! That is, if you mean cheesy trance when mentioning epic.
Tiesto mainly plays progressive (nice music, but oooooh so boring on a party; if you ask me the neck shot for trance); Armin everything from groovy to progressive (but (almost) no epic); Marco V some sort of techy progressive trance or sth (kinda hard to pinpoint).
Just hope that I'm wrong about progressive, and that trance will keep sweeping party ppl of their feet........ |

Sorry you all i thought Sven Vath was dutch.. it seems i was wrong :) but anyway.. just to reply to what somebody said, that Armin doesnt spin "epic" trance..
Epic trance in most ppl's definition is a type of popular, uplifting trance. Songs that exemplify this genre, (I think) would be Gouryella, and Communication. They are epic because they are uplifting and commandingly powerful. Epic trance isnt bad trance, its just stereotypical, formulaic trance. And dutch dj's cant seem to get away from that, mostly because of popular demand. marco v's "luvstruck" is no exception, neither is anything by armin or tiesto.. or ferry for that matter.

NOway, Tiesto is no Progressive dj, hey play prograssive.
He was on the Progressive-stand at innercity but his set was no prograssive.
Their is one thing, DJ's aint play one kind of house-style.
I saw him a view times, 2 times at Innercity and one time in Starlight (Holland , de Klaveet is also in Holland)
The first time at Innercity (main stage 1999) it was 100% Trance.
After that he played a set in Dance Palace Starlight, and that was little tech-house, still got the fine brakes, faster than progressive.......
Last Innercity he was booked in the Progressive hall, and his set was............TRANCE 100% TRANCE :-)
DJ's l has to look to the croud which is dancin' en clubbin', they see what the people want to hear.
That's why sometimes I don't like DJ's with a playlist, the DJ has to feel the enmvoirenment in the club so he can change his speed or kind of style if it's nessecery.
Greetzzz
Koud Pils.
