I have a question: What's a decent guide on preparing for the A+ exam or other certifications? I want a Linux+ certification as well.

Locations : either at some local community college or university provides that. if you go to college, they sometimes provide you with like 50 to 60% discounts to the tests, if you take it at your school. just go ask your tech secretary or something. it was very hard to find the office at my college, because it was in the dark corner where no one goes. Either that, or find the nearest Prometric Testing Center. They do all the tests. .. GRE, A+, NETWORK+, CISCO, etc ...

as for books, I got myself some Thomson Certification books for cheap, and it's working for me so far... just find any "thick" book with a CD that has a lot of sample tests you can take.. that's major .. sample tests of course.. hahahhaa

and yes .. you don't have to worry about A+ .. haven't taken it, but my friends have, and they say hardware is easier than software .. hardware .. just know where to put your drives and your chips and your settings and you pass.. if i were you, try to go for networking certifications.. i heard many companies are looking for that lately, because security is more of an issue than technic stuff in companies now..

ive been trying to decide what certs to take and i found a great site that has information on all the different ones out there and which ones to take depending on what you want to get into. i was actually thinking of asking a similar question.

well it depends on which field you want to pursue.. there are the three major ones : programming, systems, and networks... good luck in finding what you want to pursue in.

http://www.comptia.org/certification/a/register.aspx

go here to register. if you can buy some vouchers. search A+ vouchers. If i remember correctly you HAVE to register through that site, and find the closest location near you. While i say it's easy, you really have to know what you are doing. Software can kick your ass, epecially when it comes to old school questions like NT 4.0. Aslo hardware you have to remember your memory locations and bios addresses. Oh and there's almost no way to get a 100% i don't belive i missed a question (got 20 in all) but still got less then 100% the questions have a point system. Do yourself a favor and don't take both test at the same time. study for the hardware, THEN go do the software. make your life easier.

JERK OFF!!!

Best way to start any studying
